Disappointment of new games

So iverealized, I'll go to the midnight release of a game, fall asleep, and then play the game for like 6 hours the next day, even though I can guess the game has maybe a 13-14 hour campaign.  Anyone else do that?  Such a disappointing feeling to beat a game a couple days after you get it 

It's just lazy devs anymore. Games rarely feel fresh to me anymore, it's usually just rehash after rehash. That being said I sadly agree and doubt games will last as long as they used too anymore, but we can hope.

I think the biggest problem is that any game that tries to debut gets shut down by all the popular sequels.  Why play a new FPS when you've got CoD?  Or Halo?  Or BF?

It's been a long time since I've played a debut game.  That being said, I'm still loving Dead Space 3 :P. And yeah, games are too damn short now.  Even RPG-esque games.  I finished Dishonored in 2 sittings.  Long sittings, but still.  What happened to 50+ campaigns? Lol Final Fantasy 1 ftw!!

That's why I love borderlands and borderlands 2, no matter how fast you beat it new missions, loot, customization items, the level caps are increased and much much more are released. I've had it since Christmas and with all the Easter eggs, the three campaign modes (Normal, True vault Hunter (higher level enemies) and play through 2.5 (enemies go beyond the current level cap)) I haven't put it down. It doesn't get boring to me and yet any other game that tries to do something like this I get bred with and quit, it's just something about GearBox...

Welp!  The ending of dead space 3 pissed me off lol

And I've found that I keep returning to XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Killing Floor.  I don't really know why, but they're both really addicting to me.

Killing Floor

Oh God, killing floor! Haven't played that one in a while - it was fun though for sure! Now I kinda want to play it again.

Lately I've been sticking to games like killing floor - no plot, just random gratuitous violence. Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is a lot of fun, and I've been playing it lately. Nothing like running around with a giant flamberged sword and chopping people's limbs off. Abd the game has a push-to-scream warcry button ffs. FOR THE ORDER!

I keep hearing about Chivalry, so I may just have to buy it soon.  Everyone that has played it says it is really good.

It's only like $5. Totally worth it for a laugh.

I just feel that every game now has to have an online multiplayer capability or it won't sell. I hate that!!!!! Look at what happened to mass effect! The first two games were UNBELIEVABLE bc they were able to make a complete RPG. I was so hyped for mass effect 3 to the point where I played the beta demo til they shut it down. Even though the multiplayer was fun and the story line was still strong, I feel like they could have made the story epic if they focused primarily on that and added the multiplayer after. And the same thing with Halo 4. The multiplayer seems great but the campaign was god awful bc it seems like they barely took time to put anything into it. That is why borderlands and borderlands 2 are probably the best games I've played in the last few years. They incorporate all the aspects of both into one epic (and hilarious) game.

The last games I played that really felt like I had to invest time were Skyrim and Dragon Age. I played AC3 and although I enjoyed it, I felt like their could have been so much more. I feel the same way about Dishonored.

Silent1236

Agreed on Dishonored!  It was fun, but there wasnt a whole lot to it :-\

It's a co op survival "horror" on steam.  Basically you just survive waves of infected with breaks in between each wave to buy weapons/ammo.  There are 6 classes you can choose from and they each level up a different way.  The higher the level, the better the bonuses.  It's a whole lot more fun than it sounds.
