Jund was about as rediculous as caw blade as far as meta domination and the mind sculptor of the deck was bloodbraid. Cascade is a fairly broken mechanic in and of itself, but put it on a 3/2 haste in a deck that runs 3 and lower CMC power house spells like {dark confidant}, {lightning bolt}, {inquisition of kozilek}, and {liliana of the viel} and something has to be done to stop it. They had their day in the sun and with {blind obediance} effectively shutting down a majority of combo decks it's time to redefine the modern meta.

Jund was too popular. Wizards doesn't like one super dominant deck so they went out to change that.
