I suspect a lot of decks will run  {Gideon, Champion of Justice}... I think while it may not appear all that good,  {Gideon Jura} saw lots of play and they are very similar cards

First off, {Gideon Jura} is an ENTIRELY different ballpark. He protects himself very well by having so much loyalty, kills a pesky tapped guy, and swings the tide by making your opponents guys hit him. His ability to turn into a 6/6 beatstick was on the lower end of the scale, while still entirely relevant, especially after the "alpha strike" on him, if he lived. The new Gideon only turns into a guy. that's it. His ultimate is like ulty-ing Karn, it's cool I guess, but you can't really build a deck around it. I would WAY rather drop {Ajani, Caller of the Pride} or {Silverblade Paladin} the turn before and do some good, rather than just having an artifact sit there.I saw the spoiler of him, and got so excited. I thought "oh man! New Gideon!". But no, after having some time for him to sink in, I just really don't like him. He's not that good, and don't get me wrong, I would love to eat my words, "Please, please someone break him!!!". Sorry, it's not going to happen. Last time I checked, you're not an opponent, and giving your opponents creatures, is generally bad, unless your playing {Forbidden Orchard}.

First off I want a Gideon because he looks bad ass. Second I guess I pictured running him with red. Vexing, Hellriders, and DDamage then finishing with him as either a board wipe or nice indestructible creature swinging alongside some riders..but I don't like Standard myself so what do I know.

I, for one, LOVE Gatecrash.  It's either my favorite or second-favorite set, which is saying a lot, because I hated RTR.  But don't forget the best card in the set, the epic mythic that sent my Johnny senses tingling, and possibly my favorite card:  {Duskmantle Seer}!
