Happy Mayan-Calendar-Was-Written-In-A-Circle-And-Ran-Out-Of-Room Day, Everyone!

Apocalypse theories are silly. Everyone have a nice Winter Solstice - enjoy it quickly, its the shortest day of the year, you know! Welcome to the official start of Winter.

Coffee Vampire

What an appropiate day for iMtG to come back! :)

World doesn't end until sometime around 6-7 pm est.

Dudecore

Everytime the world is about to end - I can never get anyone to sell me their stuff.

Where is the planet that's supposed to be right next to the sun as predicted by the "aliens" and their crop rings?

Right above you. And they got plenty of guacamole and cheese dip. So bring your tortias and have a fiesta! Just kidding

Haha, the most amusing currency ever. But alas, your bottlecaps are no good still...you have to wait until the next nutty apocalyptic prediction.

Give it two years... We'll find another "doomsday prophecy." It's kinda depressing that so many people are hellbent about knowing when the "end" will come. I say just live life and stop worrying. If the world was gonna end in our life time, it's not like we could stop it anyway.

What boggles my mind the most is the numerous people who committed suicide yesterday, thinking that the world was going to end. YOU THOUGHT THE WORLD WAS EXPLODING, WHAT WAS THE POINT? In a hurry to go nowhere 10 minutes before you believed you were going to go there anyway? Did you want to beat the rush hour traffic?

Piotr

Was the number of suicides significantly bigger than on average day?

Gorzo

Enough to make the news. Don't remember the exact numbers, just that there were a few.

Piotr

The cynic in me is not convinced. It wouldn't be the first time when media are reporting a made up story. I know that majority of gun killings in the US is suicides*, and that would be a significant number per day. You take that, report it with alarmist commentary, fail to tell what average is, and people believe that there were increased number of suicides on the day. Is that lying?

* used to be Wikipedia editor on the topic for a while.

No one knows when the end of the world will come. Even if it will happen, that's something that's hard to predict.

My world changed a bit yesterday, my grandfather passed away :(

Oh and NASA debunked the planet alignment with our galaxy's black hole.  The "dark rift" was a myth.  I have been saying all along that Dec 21st was just the end of the Mayan long count calendar and it will just start over on Dec 22nd just like the hour hand clicks forward when the minute hand reaches 60.

Just remembered how media reported the story of Foxconn suicides, reporting a number (17 or something) while failing to add that given the number of employees the average rate is significantly below China average :P
