Fast enough for modern? What staples should I include?

for an actual tournerny, no, for fun of course, in an actual tournament a staple modern deck will have one turn 2/3 every time, infect only has the possibility to win like that but inconsistently, and if you face a combo deck that uses counters to throw you off your tempo your done.

I disagree have you watched and of the pro tour return to ravnica. Ari lax had a nice infect deck.

Yes, and kelvin chew made top 8 with it... but at grand prix chicago infect got wrecked because of lingering souls and because people were prepared for it

infect can only really top if people are not expecting it.

How in the world can you make competitive decks? I need some serious tutoring, theres no way ill ever get a turn 3 win lol

I have a soul sister and a Merfolk deck. Both modern, and I don't know what to buy vs infect. What do you guys think?

When in standard, infect used to lose out to heavy amounts of removal.

Of course it was dangerous because you only had to deal 10 damage and you could do the bulk of that (if not all) in 1 or 2 turns (turn 2 or 3) then just find the rest of the match to finish them off (usually turn 4 or 5)

Heavy removal was good because it was getting rid of the source of the damage.

I'm not overly familiar with modern, and I guess it would depend on your meta, but infect could work against decks that don't use early removal or have no answer to damage that sticks to their creatures.

As also said, modern is fast, so there is a possibility that you may have a chance.

I thought infect was blue green

I've had troubles with infect before.  In my opinion, they're better than Jund if built correctly, but that's pretty tough to do.  I feel like new cards will herald the return of infect in modern soon enough, though.
