Orientation help

When I enter the imtg app my orientation on my iPad automatically goes horizontal - even if I have locked it in a vertical position. This only happens with imtg that I am aware of, and it hides part of the display (the iPad time and battery line covers some of the side) and it makes typing very difficult, as I can't see half if the typing screen due to it being under the keyboard. Is there any way to fix this? I am holding the iPad vertically, in case anyone fancies suggesting that...

Sorry, found the fix in settings. Although I should now report that if I have the orientation in settings set to horizontal the only thing it changes is the iPad auto bits - keyboard and time/battery bar. The actual orientation of imtg didn't change at all.
