People are already talking about how much worse Sandy will be than Katrina
Doubtful. I can still show you the water line from Katrina, or entire neighborhoods that still lay in rubble. ...

But then, I am from the south, we rarely even close the public schools for a category 1 anymore.

Morning update: I'm pretty much land locked. Major parts of town were flooded, but the storm seems to have subsided. Isn't technology great? Charging my phone in my car, using 4G. No power till Thursday and beyond. My car didn't get flooded, I thought for sure water would flood my motor through then intake I have on.

Got a kindle with 300 books on it, got plenty to do. Be easy everyone.

Light up the pit! Everything in your freezer/fridge will be going bad in a couple days.

Im in north LA. We close schools if you even mention "snow" or "huricane-like winds."

Colorado. People will still go to school with 2-3 inches, as long as the roads are clear

Lol that's what I was gonna say. I was down south in a small town and they had a snow dusting and the town was closed. In Chicago there has to be about a foot of snow to close stuff.

Yeah man. People in my city dont know how to act. They hear "possible snow" and "torrential downpours" and it shuts their brains off and they go full on panic mode. Which is funny, considering the last time anything major happened was in '99.

In minnesota, where we dont have to worry about earthquakes or hurricanes, our school is only closed when there is over 20 in of snow.

This times a million. I go to school in the Anoka-Hennepin district too, so we haven't had a snow day in 10+ years. Yes, even when it was snowing over 3 in per hour and winds were gusting into the 50's.

Up here in Canada well, I remember we had to walk to school 15 Kms, in -45 Celsius! UP HILL! Both ways!
