Mono black discard control?

Is this even playable in standard ATM?
All I see a multi color decks and I've got a nice one made beats my buddy's legacy mono black control all the time

I wish but right now there is not enough good {B} cards that can do the job as a single color. There are a lot of good cards spread out over all colors. To much for {B} to handle by its self. It's discard spells are not to great and that can also be said about its kill spells.

I think {decent into madness} is underrated. Im going to make a junk populate deck with it. Along with {shrieking affliction}

I have a mono black {blood artist} deck that does so-so. Everyone and their mothers seems to be playing new Jace and Tammy, so that locks it down. Im just waiting for Gatecrash so i can convert it to a blue/black deck.

Not impossible. My mono white weenie deck still does alright. Most decks don't have enough removal to cope.
