Why is black vise banned?

I don't understand why {black vise} is banned on legacy.. It's not like you have more than 4 cards in your hand anyway... At least I don't think you would.
An explanation would be greatly appreciated.

Anything that puts them closer to 0 than you before anything can happen is no joke. I understand it doesn't seem bad but it can be broken with the right deck.as can almost any other card.

I'm not sure I agree with this logic. You can first turn {lightning bolt} someone for 3 before they do anything.

This card could potentially do 9 damage to an opponent first turn though.

{dark ritual} and play 3 {black vise} which would all trigger doing 9 damage turn 1. So yes it should be banned.

I think they're worried about {black vise} and {mind twist} spamming. With that said, {Land Tax} was unbanned, so I feel like {Black Vise} stands a shot too. It's been a lot of years since it was relevant.

A well planned {Black vise} deck would basically be a combo deck, and mana denial for control decks. It remains to be seen if Legacy can really even hold up to it as well as vintage can. It can get some extremely early wins, so I don't know. Vintage has more answers to combo decks like {Mental Misstep}, Legacy has {Force of Will} (the only glue keeping the format together)
