Haha pun intended, check out my birthday present:  http://blythesgungear.com/catalog_detail.php?product_id=25588

So I am ex Army and my other hobby is guns.....cool guns 😎 This is kind of like a new version of the M16.  The M16 is gas tube operated and requires a buffer tube that goes through the stock and limits how short the back end of the gun can be.  This new version is similar to the M249 SAW, google it, which is a belt fed machine gun.  This Sig Sauer 556 I am getting is gas piston operated like the M249 and it allows you to eliminate that buffer tube and I believe it will fire more reliably....not that the m16 is unreliable.  I want the folding stock option and I was going to buy a Black Widow AK47 but I am not a big fan of the AK's accuracy.....you sacrifice accuracy for more reliability with the AK.  Like I said the M16 is reliable but you can literally dump sand into the bolt of an AK while it is firing and it will not jam.....but you try to reach a point target at 300 meters everytime and the M16 will outperform everytime.

Only fired the M16 only once (I am not military) and it was a dream, just too expensive. I bought a AK47 WASR, cheap Romanian model. It's fun to shoot, ammo is cheap and it'll fire almost anything.

Yea if you want a base model assault rifle with no bells and whistles....you can get an AK for $299.99 👍 or some cheap blood diamonds .... just depends what part of the world you are in ;)

Sadly access to that kind of hardware is extremely limited in my part of the world. (I mean its good in some aspects too)
We can get stuff like a good 308 hunting rifle and various configurations of 12 gauge shotguns, but definitely nothing that is remotely similar to an assault rifle.

Well I live in New York. We have some kind of assault weapons ban, I can't bring the AK near New York proper. So I leave the guns at my parents. I got a Mossburg 500 pump 20GA and a Smith and Wesson Model 686 revolver for home defense.

Anyone who fights that law in federal court can have it found unconstitutional.  The city of Chicago has a hand gun ban....not sure if it is still in effect.  I can't remember the other city that had the same ban but someone fought it and won.  So a precedent has been set and anyone can pretty much cite that court case to have other laws like that overturned.  It was a couple years ago when legislation was passed that pretty much states the federal government controls limitations on gun ownership which means anyone can use this legislation to create a federal case against these laws to have a federal judge determine if they are legal or not.

I would have thought they will sort NY out by now. Strange.

More less the "supremacy clause" of the constitution works in tandem with the new legislation that give the federal government control over gun laws.  A state can still make laws but any sort of case brought against them can use the supremacy clause to overrule it.  But if no one says anything then the state law will remain.  It is kind of like the medicinal marijuana states are passing.....that is fine and dandy unless the federal government or an agency like the DEA decides to use the supremacy clause to strike those laws down.  Someone has to speak up is the point I am making.

GUNS! Minnesota is awesome about guns, unless you live in the cities, then the Liberals think you're a terrorist.

Those can be repelled by the people too, they just did jury nullification in NH: https://www.google.com/search?q=jury+nullification+new+hampshire&hl=en&safe=off&client=safari&rls=en&prmd=imvns&ei=qZJ1UOv0G5OLhQeSrIGoCw&start=10&sa=N

I have a Sig556. They are a bit heavy, but fantastic weapon system. A pleasure to shoot. Slap an eotech on there and it feels like cheating.

Yea they are a little front heavy but I have to imagine the piston/bolt combo adds some weight and takes what little recoil there is from a .223 and allows faster target acquisition.  I have not had a chance to shoot one yet....hopefully mine is in before the weekend.  How does it compare to a traditional M4 style AR?
