It's unavoidable, snapcasters r gonna flashback sells with overload. Any reason one would not b able to play the targeted spell for its overload cost?

I don't see why not.

Overload isn't anything but paying extra money for the spell to do something better

So yes you can snapcaster for an overload, since the overload cost would be the spells mana cost

Agrajagzz9

No it can't. It's the same reason you can't flashback force of will by discarding a blue card. Castin it with flashback counts as an alternate method of casting as does its overload cost an you cannot flash back an overload at the same time aka use two alternate forms of casting

So no. You can't flashback AND overload the same card

Fenster

Im gonna toss my two cents in and say yes. Because I think i read somewhere you can flashback kicker costs.

Gorzo

Pretty sure Agrajag is right. Overload is an alternate cast, as is flashback. You wouldn't be able to do both, only one or the other. Kicker on the other hand is an additional cost, not an alternate.

Plus, if you think about flashback hard enough, it says "pay this exact specified cost (which isn't the casting cost, though it may be equal to it); cast the card from your graveyard." While overload says "pay this cost instead of the casting cost: do overload effect." If you're flashing back, you're not paying the casting cost that overload is programmed to replace.

Divide by 0.

I say! That sounds rather logical, good sir!
I vote we gavel this skallywagger!

BUT DIVIDING BY 0 IS ILLEGAL!!!!!

Judge wiki says no you cant overload and flashback simultaneously for the reasons stated above.

darkarts981

NO! Snapcaster key wording: flashback cost is equal to MANA COST.

A little bit late to the party there Darkarts? ;D
