Wait what??? That's stupid, I don't get it...

It is stupid and it kind of defeats the purpose of a sealed event

Rass

Humn never seen the checklist for these events. The only way I seen passing cards from a sealed even is on a draft you open you pack pull a card and pass. Keep doing this till all the cards are passed out. But where I play if it's an exceptional pack you can keep it and quit or sometimes by a replacement pack. The guy who runs it is pretty cool about this stuff and wants everyone to have fun

At a lot of sealed events, you don't keep the cards you open. You open them, check them, then pass them down the table.

It for events where some of the cards have already been released. It's to prevent people from cheating by bringing in their own cards. I don't think a lot of places do this any more with the changes to the prerelease structure. It was more important when there was only one major event per area. You had 150+ ppl turning out.

There was 68 people at the one here. There was one Sorin pulled and I pulled it. What sucks is I had to give it some one else after I completed my ---------------->check list. <-------------------Although I place 5th with crappy cards I received. My best rare was a {Nevermore}. So my deck 100% common and uncommon.
Anyone have a link to this I just want to see what your supposed to do

The check list for the pre release

InfinitiveDivinity

I'm curious as to how the "check-list" of a Pre-release works as well, I think he was asking for a link to better explain it.

Yep trying to figure out why he had to give up his card

It's pretty simple, just mark down how many cards you have, then the one who receives the cards double checks.

I don't like it, since it always leads to moments where people have to hand off great cards.

Rass

Ok I see the checklist but how does the giving cards away work? That's what I don't get. What happens? Does everyone give their mythics back and they randomly hand them out

Step1: open the cards and mark down what you opened
Step2: pass all of the cards around the table the number of times told by the official
Step3: check the cards
Step4:play.

Karrthus

At our tourney. We check the cards, put them in a box on the officials table, then he handed them out. He gave 20min to check the list n make sure it was right. Then he gave us 30 min to build our deck with cards we received. The place o go does this at every prerelease since the Alara block. There a shop that always hold a midnight tourney down the street and some people do go and then come to the one on Saturday and try to cheat.

InfinitiveDivinity

So are they all handed out randomly? So some people get OP decks no matter what they open?

I think this way you would be more likely to cheat keep a few rears on you and swap them out for the expensive ones
