Ok I am going to start a thread and feel free to join and tell us about your deals.  I am a budget shopper so I tend to buy pre-release cards that I feel are a great deal so here is what I got so far from eBay:

I'm thinking about buying a playset of Underworld Connections instead of trading for them when RtR release and saving my money for Gatecrash, as I'm more excited about that set than this one.

I was just looking on eBay, and saw those common/uncommon play sets.  Think the price will go up if some cool uncommons and commons are spoiled?.

You think a common/uncommon playset set for $35 is worth it?

The prices of the common/uncommon play sets are totally worth it. I try to buy one every set. The odds of them fluctuating in value is very very low. These people just open so much product to chase rares/mythics they usually have dozens of these sets for sale. There are not really chase commons or uncommons. You can still get Innistrad - Datk Ascension - Avacyn Restored and M13 c/uc sets for the same price as when they came out.

The reason I suggest getting them is because it beats having to order them later on, and you never know what decks you'll want to make. Also, even in a booster box you're never guarenteed a playset of anything.

Edit: I'd recommend doing what cltrn did if you care about having the cards. You'll get 80% of the cards cheaper then buying a box. If you like opening packs, then more power to you. I save my pack opening for draft, leave the c/uc's on the table after drafting and let the kids have it.

I also spend probably $4,000 a year on mtg, so take this as you will.
