Be sure to draft yourself some removal! Assuming your LGS is doing m13, {murder}, {flames of the firebrand}, {searing spear}, {prey upon}, {oblivion ring}, and {passifism} are all big deals, along with a few others.

{rancor} is pretty much a first pick for everybody at my LGS. So keep your eye peeled for it.

Watch for color signals! If you see really good cards of a certain color passing through, it means not many people are taking that color - might be worthwhile to pick it up!

17 lands, 23 spells (15 or more of which creatures) and you should be good.

If m13 get lucky like me and end up with 4 {tormented soul} and a few of each favor and 2-3 of both knight and other really cheap exalted.

Probably best to stick w one to two colors tops it seems..dependent on what gets passed around

I went 4 wins and 2 losses. Unfortunately the 2 losses were the first round, same person, best of 3.

I got mana screwed. Only had 2 mana and 3 even though had 17 in a 40 card deck.

I got sublime tonight too, and {Talrand, Sky Summoner} + 6 {unsummon}s. still only went 2/2 the better the deck I have, the worse I do. Next time I'm drafting all {merfolk of the pearl trident} and I'll win for sure!

I'm happy w 4 wins 2 losses for my first time. I plate best guy and suffered mana screw, which sucks, they indeed were clumped together in the middle, but after that I shuffled better and won every other game I played even casually between rounds.

Just have to make sure to consistently shuffle.
