{Batterskull} is good in any deck and in my play group, it just makes any deck immediately viable in multiplayer. But yes, the stoneforge mystic completely circumvents the need for mana by tutoring for whatever equipment you need, batterskull, then putting into play.

Jace just has too many abilities for his mana cost, I get that planeswalkers are powerful but there's a limit to lore in gameplay.

I thought about {Arcbound Ravager} and {Ancestral Vision} too. They'd hit the short list.

With {crucible of worlds} if a land is in your graveyard, can you use something like {seismic assault} to "discard" lands, since they are treated as though they were in your hand?

The oracle text was reworded, i am assuming for this reason.

In other words, no.

Is Ravager not here?  Probably should be.

Agree on the Æther Vial, another card that bypasses mana.

So, based off the "breaking mana rules" principle, what about {Stonehewer Giant}? I hesitate due to his CMC, but he takes the Mystic's ability to a whole new level, and delivers a beating while doing do.
It is the CMC that takes the wind out of his sails. By T5-6 the board state is a different landscape. Plus he doesn't have an impact when he hits, only if he survives to your next turn.

4. {Mana Drain}
5. {Lion's Eye Diamond}
6. {Flash}
7. {Tolarian Academy}

Why you no have {force of will} in dat list????

I think {bonfire of the damned} is close to qualifying for the modern power 9.  Definetly standard power 9.

I see {Force of Will} as one of the few cards that can actually stop any of those rediculous cards from their combos. And I'm horribly biased.

And a standard power 9 could be fun, but {Snapcaster Mage} is clearly 1.

Sevenfold

Is bonefire seeing play in any other formats the standard?
