Can we stop using the phrase RTFC? I feel like we should have a more friendly attitude around here and jokingly or not RTFC is not a friendly thing to say.

/Plea.

BlackJester

I only use it in jest, myself.

Sersiously, Read The FULL Card people. ;)

There was one guy at my old fnm that had rtfc sleeves on Fridays he had to say it meant "right to free choice". I like "read the full card".

Elitehalo360

True story. No one has ever told me that

Quackmaster5

I don't think that's the point. I think it's that people are entitled to ask questions. It's why the app has a rules section. It's just that people get fed up with seeing the same question asked. And it doesn't need to be a big deal. Just ignore it or answer the question that's all.

Dudecore

Oh. I went to the rulings forum and saw the RTFC thing. It's kinda inappropriate. I think the point of this community is to have fun and help other people learn. Patronizing them could make them second guess being part of this community.

Quackmaster5

Exactly my point. Don't put someone down for asking questions. How does everyone learn? They ask questions and obtain knowledge. What kind of example are we setting as the more knowledgable people if we are putting down people who are trying to become better players like us?

Elitehalo360

But what does rtfc stan for?

I suppose it could mean either one. Depending on if you wanted to be a Richard or not.

smokin terry

Ya I only say it to myself or some times jokingly to my friends when they are not paying to much attention to the wording.

BlackJester

It definitely has abrasive undertones, so unless you add some levity, a wink and a smile ;), it's pretty sarcastic and mean.

It evolved from industry yelling at stupid users "Read the Friggin' Manual!"  or RTFM.  (RTF Datasheet applies too.)
