What are somethings that annoy you about magic players or playing? I dont compete in FNMs just play casually at school but lately it gets annoying when I'm playing and people stand over and loudly complain about your deck or moves you make. Lately when it gets bad and it's not even constructive criticism I just scoop and leave.
Dude I hate it when someone just grabs one of my cards to see what it does instead of asking...

It doesnt matter what you want. You still need to ask the owner to see it. Everyone will say yes. But if you don't ask you may run into problems..
I play in Fnm and I Ussually play classy players that go to ptq and the grand prixes so I don't have many problems, but when I play scuba I hate when they try to shuffle my deck or try to take back plays I mean if it was casual sure but if you f#%£ up admit your mistake that and I hate seeing unsleaved cards D: I played this kid whom had a sword of w&p unseaved I was crying on the inside I'm like kid give me that sword so you don't ruin it and I'll even buy you sleeve and a deck box god!
I don't mind them shuffling the deck as long as they're not like bridge shuffling. I have no problem with rifle shuffling

I hate when people get all uptight about their peeves
A pet peeve, by definition, is something you get uptight about. Oh and I have another one!
When someone just takes a long time. I know it is good to consider your options but if you take too long I might consider some options of my own...like suicide lol
I hate it if the persons hands are dirty and then he touches my sleeves without the curtisy to even wipe his hands off
When someone grabs my cards without asking, it's like they put their hands in my pants' pockets. "Oh, are these yours? Don't mind if I do."
Counterspells.
When people grab my cards without asking, asking "Can I take that back?", eating and playing at the same time, when someone cuts a card down just because it isn't good in standard, using really powerful decks to stomp on new players in casual games, SOMEONE WHO REFUSES TO NOT NETDECK, and a list of others longer than Apache Chief's loincloth.

Counterspells.
Definitely. And when I play something big after being mana flooded and just having it taken by control cards. I think my biggest pet peeve is just when people use blue decks...
When someone you're playing says..."you should have done this..." especially when that person is known to lose nearly every game they play, especially when what you decide to do, wins the game.
Please just be quiet and take the beating.
Untap step. I know there's nothing to be done about it, since the game relies on tapping, but I think that the game could really benefit if it didn't involve so much tapping. It would faster, more intuitive and, IMO, fun. I realize this is a very fundamental part of Magic, and it's not like it destroys the experience of fun, but if I ever make a cardgame then it won't involve tapping/untapping to this degree.
When you win they tell you "your getting so lucky" or "I keep getting screwed because my deck isn't running right"
I usually, literaly, facepalm when i do mistakes but never take them back.
I usually let people go back on they're plays as long as it hasnt been too long since they called it. And i like when people read my cards, it just feels douchy to not let them see whats going down on the other side of town, if ya know what i mean.
And i keep my cards in sleeves so unless they start bending and such then im going to be pretty chill.
To stay on topic: When "good" players go all arogant on your ass. F@ck you, im learning!
My biggest pet peeve is how everyone in my meta likes to point out that I do things "lefty". Tap to the left, my library to the left, my graveyard to the left and I always place my hand down to the left of my battlefield. Arg!!!
Also, I don't mind people touching my cards. If it doesn't effect what I'm doing, who cares? Just a way for everyone to learn more. And I always ask to see them but I don't mind if someone just looks.
Also, I agree with the counterspells....my friend has a 80-90 card deck with 40 counters in there. I always tell him he has to tell me before playing it so i can play a deck i really dont care for and so I don't flamethrower his deck!

hahaha I lold irl
I have wired pet peeves, so I don't often arc up about them:
•Not tapping or untapping completely, so cards are at a diagonal and all at different angles
•Card sleeve colours not matching the deck colours
•people complaining about the cards I play (I've played for YEEEEAAAARS and often new players hate me playing old school dominance), if you don't like it, don't play outside FNM.
•People complaint about control or counterspell. Why not just complain about life gain, can trip, mana ramp or token gen, they're all just as unfair. If you don't have the skills, tactics or sportsmanship to loose (or even win) gracefully, don't play!!!
•telling me art from another set is better. WHOOOOOOO CAAAAARES!!! I like this art or flavour, that's why I put it in.
... and that's it for now. Lol
Shuffling your hand. I get the "mix up the cards" application but you do not need to CONSTANTLY shuffle.
(shuffle...shuffle...shuffle...)
While playing with someone casualy and they turn around to talk to a friend for about ten mins on my turn, and i cant play anythinf cause they would think im cheating.
Another one is playing against a deck thats not legal in any format and them not telling me before we play.
And last ppl who over price there cards they want to trade because its special to them, and under priceing mine by half because i dnt have a story to tell them about how i got the card.

What the hell who would do that??
Id be pissed of if someone tried to pull that crap on me!
Mine would have to be people who just talk crap about my deck. I'm new to mtg and was trying to get the hang of playing before I spent tons of cash on cards. I almost flipped out on a guy at fnm last week because he wouldn't stfu

Oh man, you do NOT want to play against me then. XD I like a nice 45 degree tap on my stuff (always at the same angle mind you), and I intentionally choose sleeves that are different from the deck I'm playing. WW - Chandra sleeves, RDW - Moonmist sleeves. I guess those are the only two, I won't complain about your cards or counters.
Also, wrt grabbing my cards, I'm totally fine with letting people handle my stuff, all I ask is for a simple "May I?". Don't just reach over and riffle through my gy, I know it's public info but seriously! It's a courtesy and sportsmanship thing. Respect your opponent.
Also overly dirty cards that are sleeved, why sleeve them if they're in the condition? I heard a story of a guy at my local carshop who was just really dirty and greasy and used it as a strategy. He used a deck where he took control of your cards and since his hands were crazy dirty people just preferred to scoop and not have him touch your cards. He actually won tourneys that way.

Yeah. Even if I'm playing standard, like at fnm. Theyll be like "oh what deck is that? RDW? Oh well you should add... Or do you have ... In it?" NO it's just a deck I through together based on ideas and good combos. It's not named anything, it's not one of the decks listed on the Internet.
Even my legacy deck. "oh it's affinity, those are okay" NO it's not affinity. Just because you see one or two affinity card does not make the deck affinity.

The judge has authority, but judges can be wrong. People have even posted bad calls here. Still, it's not the NHL, you're not making millions of dollars to play. Take what the judge says and move on.

We can keep doing this, but it doesn't matter. It's impossible to suggest a strategy with no counter-measures. Thing is, will you always get your Abolisher in play? Will you play it in all of your decks? Will I get my orb out before lethal damage? That's the game.

Very good point, sir.
That's one of the ways to identify a good player, in my oppinion. Along with deck building and obviously playing the deck.
The only thing I find strange in your list kuberr is you specify overweight people who don't bathe. People of average weight who don't bathe are fine then, it's just the fat guys? Lol. At my FNM the only guys with B/O that makes your nose cringe are a couple of normal-weighted guys. The big fellas we have understand the concept of the shower. A couple people tend to reek of smoke (not necessarily cigarette) also, which bothers me, I have a rather sensative sense of smell.
Not sure why specifically women looking for judges bothers you either. What's the difference what sex a person is if they are asking for judges all the time?
Lol sorry, didn mean to offend. I was just listing off specific events that I have noticed.
Granted, of course anyone could stink, just my observation.
And last week I was playing this girl and the judge was helping her the whole way, but when the 6 year old was struggling, he didnt care. On game day. Wtf Is that about?

Well I'm running an affinity legacy, and I would throw it out on an {Etched Champion} and I never have less than at Least 5 artifacts out. So 7+ damage from each etched with a cranial playing each turn that can't be blocked except by artifact creatures. Then untapping them with {Voltaic Key} good game.
Hypocrit? I think so 😉

Dude... A six ear old was playing at a fnm?? Haha niice. Prope to him. That will be my 6 year old some day lol. I will give him advice so he can himiliate people for me!
Sorry to get off topic, but did anyone see the story of the 7 year old girl who made it past the first round?

I don't like when someone says "that card would be good in EDH."
Because most cards are good in EDH.

Pet peeve: somewhat less expercienced players who know you have a little more experience, so all three in a row attack you. And then by the time they've finished they're slow game, they are tired of playing and you've only Watched for an hour. So stupid. And happening now. Ugh.

Why dont you play with the circle rule? Attack to your right and block to the left.
Or range of one?
Go meat shields!!

My magic pet peeve is when you think of a card can even visualize it but can't remember the name. Then you try to explain the card to your friends but they just look at you like your crazy.

I almost never scoop; I wait for the actual death blow. So it really drives me nuts when an opponent can win the game, but insists on doing gratuitous stuff just so they can "do their combo". We have a guy.
He'll do all sorts of "tap this, sac this to untap this, cast this to draw three, tap that again..." Meanwhile, I'm at two life with no cards in hand and he has a 5/5 flier. At that point, we tell him that he's just playing with himself. 😜

What's funny is that two of the three things you mentioned (land and draw step) can't even be responded to. 😂
Probably already someone else said this, but when you're at an event and you're playing a n00b player that asks someone else if I'm allowed to do that. Happened to me, some lady thought that I could only use {evernight shade}'s ability once and didn't know the difference between an activated ability and a regular ability. RAAGE.

Yeah it was some girl that was asking her MtG playing boyfriend about rules every time i did something... but it worked out ok because i didn't read the full text of {rite of ruin} and we both thought it only targeted one player so it won me a game possibly. XP I'm a dirty cheater... I dropped after that round when I read the card. :/
My only 2 pet peeve is when your playing a new player and they don't ask for help or accept your help. In the game or in between rounds. (i.e. they keep making the same wrong play but don't know why its wrong). All you want to do is help them improve to be better players. The 2nd one is when new players are being cheated out of trades by more experienced players.

When someone just takes a long time. I know it is good to consider your options but if you take too long I might consider some options of my own...like suicide lol

I would rather them just say no then overprice it

Asking why I'm tapping their already tapped creatures (because I had to, {angelic benediction}) wondering why I'm gaining life with my lifelink creatures... Confused why exalted didn't happen when my partner attacked too. Just god damn! RTFC!!!! 103.1. At the start of a game, each player shuffles his or her deck so that the cards are in a random order. Each player may then shuffle or cut his or her opponents' decks. The players' decks become their libraries.
Thanks captain rule, I know that. I was referring to obnoxious people as above. Further, common sense prevails to me. If I am playin someone whom obviously shuffles their own deck decent, I won't molest their cards for 5 minutes, I appreciate the same respect.

Don't get snooty, your previous post was worded in such a way as to convey that you did not know the rule. So I pointed it out. We are on the same page. I say a couple rifle shuffles, few cuts, good enough for me. I hate people touching my cards in general. Actually I just don't like most people I meet playing this game. You know, the ones that perpetuate the stereotype.
I'm sorry, snooty is an auto response for me for a quoted post with no other information other than a rule description :)
Where I usually play half the time i don't even cut, as I trust until given reason not to.
Pet peeve of mine happened the other day. Between matches 3 people went to burger king and held up the works for 30 minutes, then the following match one game went for Max time (played by 2 of the same people)... Needless to say it was 11pm and there was still one more round to go, and I had to forefit since my kids sitter had to be home by 1130. I doubt I'll go to another event anytime soon since I'm still jaded by this. It was bad enough we started 45 minutes late too. I know 💩 happens, but C'mon. Lol
I hate when stores lolly gag around while everyone is done for the round.
Then you have the 2 noobs with 15 creatures each both at like 15 life at time....ugh. Lol {angelic wall} x 3 each >.<

Lol
Lol so true, my bad. That would actually be my response too! And thats like my biggest pet peeve. Not just in Magic, but every part of my life. TIMINGS!! Meet your F'ing timings people. In my job, if people don't meet their timings, others could die. Just makes me so mad!! I want to hulk out when people are late with no prior info. Makes me angry just thinking about.
So many sprinkled big words to show they're smartt
So little time for jokes
Today it has to be the hermits who have no people skills. I was tired and asked about a card he just told me instead of letting me see it so I miss played nothing major and he almost had a heart attack. Then the icing on the cake was I won and he just sat there doing nothing
Hmm pet peeves. I really hate it when people focus a single player in FFA. You always end up playing against the sneakiest guy and his cohort. Also, destruction spells. :3 destruction spells against my favorite cards like kemba or perimeter captain. It hurts seeing your card go hahaha
The other day i was playing planechase against this dude i find a bit annoying and it just happened that he was eating cheetos and grabbing my planechase cards one after the other. And he spits too... I mean come on, do that on the sleeved ones for crying out loud! That guy has a ninjas deck he built quite nicely and he constantly gets complimented on it. I recently bought the new planechase night of the ninja deck and he went berserk accusing me of copying him and demanding a match versus his own deck. He obviously destroyed me but come on dude. He even mocked me saying i should give him the best cards in that deck since i don't use them well enough.
I also hate it when people don't eliminate immediate threats as soon as they come into play. I guess that's only applicable to teamplay though hehe ☺
Aahh and last but not least. The mean players! D: i played this friend of mine and lost twice in a row, i don't mind losing, i just want to play but what he said afterwards just left me in a bad mood. He said I "had no game" and just generic "you're no good" chatter. Come on man, be a decent player, have some sportsmanship!
Oh and sore losers D:
