I just noticed I received a -1 karma for something. I have no clue what I did to warrant this. I was hoping a moderator would have a idea. Cause I have no clue why.
Thank you
Maybe have givers put in reasons for negative karma but have names anonymous. Many people seem to be getting upset about karma or just annoyed..
This would be an idea to make sure the receiver knew why, I think it'd make people less mad

Someone just gave it to you for some reason that probably no one knows except for the giver :/ so like adding in reason for negative would help. But it'd have to be in a way for the reason to only be visible to the reciever
I agree. I just got another one for no apparent reason. So I agree there should be a reason box, so to speak.
Well I like to trade alot. When people are the negative karma, people tend to be wary about trading. People think I'm going to run off with there cards. That's what I see when I see the negative Karma.

That's actually false. You just asked me what they meant and how they were earned.
I wouldn't worry. If people trust you, karma means nothing.
@ kuberr. Prior to us talking I thought that is why people got negative. So I got a negative for someone disagreed with my opinion or views. That's ridiculous! Am I going to get another one for this post?! I know I didn't troll anyone, nor did I send vulgar messages. I just want to know why. Why did I geta negative for something I can't even know from whom or for what?
I have negatives because I'm outspoken and I enjoy speaking my opinion. Some people don't like your opinion. Just stop worrying about it.
Back to topic though, it would be nice to have a little box come up when you click either positive or negative for an explanation. I wouldn't show the name though, because that's kind of calling people out so I would keep it anon.
I don't think it would make a difference if you made them post something. All they would do is dhrfgjhgcvhgcc and that's the reason.

Do you honestly think there are tht many trolls here that would do that?

My concern is that it would serve no added function that doesn't already exist on the forum. If someone upsets you to the point where you feel they deserve negative karma, you can easily PM them to let them know what happened and why.
Having a box for people to fill out to explain is redundant and if someone is neg'ing just to be a troll, you are now giving them an anonymous mask to troll behind. Trolls love that, that's why they are on the webs, because they are too cowardly to be mean to people's faces. Why give them another layer of anonymity on top of the first layer that we have here on the forum?
I would love to see people's karma numbers in the dozens or hundreds. I think users should give both types of feedback frequently, because I believe in large sample sizes. But hey, I'm a Jester.
Actually, I noticed that more and more people are getting negative karma. Some of them, I have never seen post, until something like this pops up. I think karma should be moderated a little of you want it to mean anything.
Karma is an experiment.

Ok. Is there a way that mods could be able to see who give's karma? Because I it is just one or two people that have a reputation of trolling then we might want to know.
I think it should be unmoderated, honest, and frequent. The more people use it, I believe that the more people will use it genuinely, thus reducing the effects of the minority of trolls. There are 10,000 people that said they didn't like "Somebody That I Used to Know" as performed by Walk Off The Earth on youtube. (If you haven't seen it, watch the original vid by Goyte, which is genius, then watch theirs)
You can't even make out the sliver that represents of the over one million likes they got. In large numbers, things work out.
Well, though I do support what you guys have to say in the end.... I believe some things can usually be fixed rather easily by simple compromise.
I trust your judgement, bj.
I don't think it's perfect and I do want to hear your ideas (although Piotr's the one running the show here). I'm just giving my opinion, as I am inclined to do. 😁
By-the-by, you shouldn't trust my judgment. You should question everything I do, call me out if you disagree, please.

I disagree and I think we
should trust youur judgement, especially involving rules.

It may be that someone gives a troll reason or silly reason, but then if you want to evaluate someone's trade trust or something like that, you could see the reasons, as if they were "reviews"

I'm concerned that something like that would just be one more thing for us to have to moderate. I don't like the idea of mining through pages of why one user gave another a +1 or -1.
I think only negative karma should have the reason. And there could be a "denounce negative karma with no reason" thing. Or better, a denounce player rating only for trades
I think the better idea was mentioned. Separate trading points from karma. Someone can be a douche on the forums but still be a good trader (although I would expect there to be some correlation between the two). Someone can be helpful and fun on the forums, but lose cards, take too long yadda yadda in trading.
I've only traded a couple of times, but I wouldn't expect people to think I'm a good trader because of my posts.
Piotr,
I want to be able to give karma from my iPod. Please try to make this happen :)
Thanks
You already can bro
Go to help> desktop forum> click the link in BJs post> hit like on a post posted by whoever you want to give the karma to. Like is under their name, on the left hand side of the page

I mean like without opening up safari
Current karma system is a temporary solution. The goal is to have 'personal ban system' where anyone can privately ban anyone else. For the old timers, this would be how we used to filter the trolls on the usenet, we would add them to a banned user lists directly in our readers.
Idk if that'd work Piotr, cuz trolls would come in and ban every1...

By "ban" he means that you can block posts from those you've banned so that you won't see them.
Ahh. I c. Thx BJ
So is this going to happen the next update? Or just sometime soon?
Neither ;)
200 I think.
