German but not Russian. Ok fine wotc.
Guess because of recent political developments? /speculation
I wonder what's it gonna look like. Leveling commanders as I understand it?
And 5 enemy colors, which would they be?
Hoping for {R}{W} and/or {G}{B} to be included.

Well there are 5 different enemy color combinations so I think it's safe to say we will have all 5 of them in the 5 different decks. Wizards love their cycles
Yeah, ofcourse. I was thinking of 10: each color having 2 enemies, but then {U}{R} = {R}{U}...

Where are you getting leveling commanders from?
Choose your commander for this unique multiplayer Magic format. New cards offer new play options, and experience counters will make your commander grow in power during the course of each game. Two-color decks allow for surprising synergies and opportunities to devastate your foes.
Experience counters....
Quote from: Noblellama on August 07, 2015, 02:20:40 PM
Missed that somehow...
as for colors
So Izzet {U}{R} (K)
Boros {W}{R} (yay)
Golgari {B}{G} (meh)
Orzhov {B}{W} (woot)
Simic {G}{U} (ugh..)
How could you not like {B}/{G}? 😕
The "experience counter" thing is an interesting pick-up. I assume it will just be a way to track commander tax and how many times it's been cast, but we'll see what happens. They sort of explored it back in 2013 with Marath, Prossh and Jeleva with counting how much mana was used to cast them. We'll see!
So llama doesn't like bug?
Ew bad llama
Come play legacy and rage quit :P
Bug makes people salty
Basic boros.

Guys.. what if the enemy fetches were in the commander sets
...I don't know what to say...
Also the commander sets dont need fetches to sell. They will sell anyway. Whereas an expansion set that ends up otherwise looking crap would automatically become the next 'best selling of all time' set if they include the fetches. They wouldnt waste the zendikar fetchlands reprint on a commander set that is going to sell out anyway.
Plus everything Taysby said.
Well if that happened expect a sell out for commander
Don't think they will ever reprint him
Never said you said anything
Just saying they print stuff in commander that makes the deck worth purchasing that may not be printed again for a long time.
Think of hasbros MO: make money
Fetches at $35-$40 per
Commander 2014 had poor sale results, I would think they want commander 2015 to sell out hard. They can print as much as they like and they know consumers want fetchlands.
Saffron Olive did an article on mtggoldfish a while back explaining why this is not only not very likely to happen, but how Wizards would be stupid if they did do it like that. Ill try and find the article to link.
http://www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/how-wizards-manages-its-savings-account
And
http://www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/fetchless
Great read and makes some great points.
The question is: will a fetches reprint actually cash out much of the equity that exists? Or just ensure a sellout of C15? Still leaving plenty in the bank for a reprint in the spring or fall 2016 sets...
The thing is, this is a set that will sell out anyway, and by including fetches it will only sell out a little quicker, but none of its intended audience (current and potential commander players) will be able to get any because the speculators and profit-seekers and dealers and eternal players will snap them all up. It still might happen, just most (read: all) signs point to it not happening.
Eh
2014 did not sell out...
Yeah i didnt phrase that very well sorry. What im trying to say is that they arent slow sellers, and wizards doesnt need to inject ridiculous extra value into them for them to be good sellers. I didnt mean that literally every copy would be sold. Sorry for that misunderstanding.
Mainly comparing to 2013 where 3 of the 5 were consistently sold out
That was a strange situation, because stores could only order those in lots of 5, so they had to get one of each every time they only wanted to order a mind seize deck. The guy who runs my lgs was frustrated as hell about that.
Target never had any blue decks but BANT :(
I was very late in jumping on the commander bandwagon. Probably gonna get one only because the main one im building is too far fron being complete and i want to be able to play without having to use my daretti deck
Yeah it gets overwhelming. Then you wanna sell off all your decks :P
It becomes to much value spread around for the little use
Keeping 3 decks only
Yeah im gonna stick with 2 preconstructed decks plus 2 decks that I wanna build. Gonna try to leave it at that. Trying to limit the amount of tiny leaders decks too. I currently have 1 and plan to build 3 more. Trying my hardest to limit it to that cos i hardly ever play commander. Modern, legacy and pauper are my formats of choice.
I'm probably going to get the Izzet one just cause of the deck's basic frame. I'm going to fill up the rest of the slots with spells and what not.
Oh my goodness, WotC! The anticipation is killing me!
Rumor has it it starts tomorrow!
As far as predictions and speculation goes...
They mentioned 'experience counters' in the press release. My prediction is they're codifying the common practice of using a die to mark how many times you've cast them from the command zone and you get bonuses for each experience counter, a la Prossh/Marath/Jaleva, but counting number of casts instead of mana spent.

Calling it now, rule change so when you cast a commander you get an experience counter. They're making a tangible way to see -how many- times you've cast a commander instead of just remembering off hand or having a nice set to the side.
could definitely see that happening.
side note: does the commander "tax" count as an addition to a cards cmc?
will casting him after he has died once cause him to be bigger each time you cast him or is CMC ONLY whats on the card?
Commander tax is a cost increasing effect. CMC is what you see on the card. {isomaru, hound of konda} can not be countered by {disdainful stroke}, even if you cast it for the third time for {4}{W}. Likewise {aluren} will allow you to flash it, even though tax still applies.
Not to mention the EXP counter ability will only give you counters if he's on the battlefield. Also, it's unlikely that the counters will be used to track casts, as you can add counters other ways than casting it (not to mention it doesn't have an ability that states you get one when you cast it)

If the CR were to change, it wouldn't need the rule on the card. However, it is a bad way of tracking, due to proliferate. {contagion engine} seems really nice with this..
Prediction:
UR one is Izzet-related in flavor.
Gets counters for casting Instants/Sorceries
Possible uses for counters: +1/+1, cost reduction for Instants/Sorceries (basically Animar for them, would be hella ridiculous), or damage on upkeep.
Orzhov colors are more likely to be Life Gain; Golgari is more likely to be deaths.
RW: Casting creatures with Power 5+
UR: Casting Instants and Sorceries? Or Burn?
WB: Life Gain?
GB: Creature Deaths?
GU: Actually no idea off the top of my head.

{G}{U} would likely be something with draw effects. Maybe increased hand size for each counter? Every turn you drew X or more cards?

But then the commander tax would increase as well whenever you got an experience counter another way, and nobody would want that. Or it'd be a mess rules wise. Either way I doubt it.
My prediction is Imma buy one of each deck. I already like the XP counters option.

Thoughts...
The new spoiled card, it is based of the "creatures with powet 5 or greater" Naya ability. Looking at the back of a mtg card, if you take green out of Naya.... you're left with Red /White.
Furthermore.... Black/White may be reminiscent of Esper without blue.
Red/Blue may be grixis without black
Green/Blue is bant without white
Green/ Black is Jund without red
Just saying, could happen...
Woah
I thought that was gonna turn into an illuminati theory or something XD

Now that you mention it. It is a little counter-intuitive. RW most often works with loads of small things, boosting for number, rather than size. {Akron hoplite}, {Anax and cymede}, {tadjic, blade of the legion} for reference.
This could mean, the XP counter is for things you don't do too often in your archetype, yet the reward is all the greater.
enemy Fetchlands?

Unlikely. Don't think Wizards would want to put that in a promo product. It would defeat its purpose, which is to attract new players.

Again?! Fair enough though.
That green black general. Mmmmmmmm.
There's a Kamigawa character! YAAAAAY! I'm so stoked they're still acknowledging its existence!
Welp, time to turn Keranos Burn into MizziX-Spells.dec. Seems too obvious not to do it! And we still haven't seen the primary commanders for UG or GB.

The equipment that copies your guy for each opponent is one of the most broken cards I've ever seen. Copying certain cards is game breaking
Agreed. At least they get exiled, and not sacrificed, so that saves out on a lot of "dies" triggers. Still expect {thragtusk}s with that equipment to cause a lot of folds.
EDIT: wait a second... The tokens enter as copies. That includes casting costs.
Hi {merchant of asphodel}, didn't see you there...
And all the free tokens for sac-outlets.
This is bad...
Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest + persist = i think awesomeness

Serious?
A burn spell that is basically {2}{R}{R} for 6 damage to all opponents?
Heard some legacy burn players express possible interest.
Simic main commander spoilt and it's odd for a Simic deck. Blue green elf tribal, focusing on Evolve maybe? Return of an old fav!

{Vorel of the Hull Clade} or {Experiment Kraj} possible reprint commanders? I was just thinking, there's many good infect creatures in Simic colours under 2 power.
UG snakes and elves seems likely, as the secondary's ability cares about snakes
EDIT: Holy Arceus, {Coiling Oracle} inspired the whole deck.

One of the Ghost Councils as reprint for Orzhov deck (spirits), maybe a {Angel of Flight Alabaster} or {Luminous Angel} too?

Lol when you cast from hand it doesn't factor in command tax. If somebody hates out your commander so it'd end up costing 14 mana to cast, you can bounce it to your hand with the land and then cast it for only 6 or whatever
I can't believe I missed that!!! I was so sleepy up late reading reddit about all this stuff. Nice!
{Bastion Protector} seems cool! Looks like the Wade Into Battle deck are gonna have some {Act of Treason} shenanigans.

Edit: this was in response to me musing on the uses of {Command Beacon} that was just spoilt. I deleted it promptly because the link didn't work properly. -Spikepit
{command beacon} will be auto include in most decks that care about their commanders I assume.
Oh boy, I want 8 {Mirror Match}'s!!! Sneaky sneaky tactics!
{Dream Pillager} looks good too. {Oblivion Sower} may have some cool interactions.
I love GB and now i think i found a fun commander!

GOLGARI LEGENDARY IS FREAKING INSANE!
WHEN A CREATURE DIES, GET A XP COUNTER.
END OF TURN REANIMATE CREATURE WITH CMC EQUAL OR LESS THAN # OF XP COUNTERS FROM YOUR YARD!! Or if this one has higher cmc, return to your hand.
GUYS. This is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.
Definitely going in Kresh edh 😍
So I've read in a lot of places so far that the other new WB commander is called Karlov of the Gohst Council. I'm thinking then that {Teysa, Orzhov Scion} will be the reprint because of its token synergy.
There it is, just spoilt. Whenever you gain life put two +1/+1 counters on Karlov.
WB: remove six +1/+1 counters, exile target creature.
Looks good.
Oh Chimera makes more sense! I only saw a foreign one and thought it was a sphinx "... but in red?!" Haha
Edit: just found an English version. It IS a red Sphinx ... weird.
Whatever he is, I bet he and Niv are gonna be best buddies.

{Mystic Confluence} all day long, and into the night.
EDIT: Oh yeah, for reference:
{Mystic Confluence}--{3}{U}{U}
Instant
Choose three. You may choose the same mode more than once.
-Counter target spell unless its controller pays {3}
-Return target creature to its owner's hand
-Draw a card
If your playing 5 mana for a counterspell and it's not {force of will} your doing it wrong. {cryptic command} has more than enough utility.
Quote from: bravado883 on November 05, 2015, 01:36:52 PM
I wasn't really comparing the card to anything, only remarking that it's a sweet blue card, and it definitely has enough utility to go in my {Oloro, Ageless Ascetic} control build. Besides, it's not really 5 mana for a counterspell, any more than {Cryptic Command} is 4 mana for a counterspell. You're paying 5 mana to 3-for-1 your opponent, which is usually pretty sweet.
On another note, Karlov wants to hang out with Oloro too :)
So let's say you even have a valid target for bounce a creature. It still all gets counted by {remand} or {counterspell}. Obviously for 5 mana you should get a serious effect. Even if you get it all, you likely should have just played cryptic command so you could hold up {dispel}. I understand you weren't trying to make the comparison. I was though and I think this card is pretty close to unplayable.
I dunno. Counter target spell draw two sounds really good to me.
Anyone else think the new red confluence could show up in vintage?
Right of the Raging Storm seems cool!
Enchantment
Creatures called Lightning Rager can't attack you.
Beginning of each players turn, they put a 5/1 lightning Rager on ther field. It has trample, haste and sac at end of turn.
It won't gain you as much hate as if it were just you getting it and is a great block, sac outlet and X equal to creatures effect.
