I'm looking to get into the casual EDH scene. I've played a bit on cockatrice but don't actually have a deck, and I want you guys to help me make one. It needs to be cheap, definitely. And it needs to be fun. Not infinite turns, not super fast win, not mindless agro, nothing like that. Hit me. Anything you got. 3 colour preferred.
{mayael the anima}. You just cram it full of ramp and huge dumb creatures. It's the best.

See, there's the problem- I don't have anyone or any idea what to do. I just know nothing.
Or {heartless Hidgetsugu} is a fun multiplayer deck that either sets a clock or one shots everyone
My friend had a fun {Sydri, Galvanic Genius} Deck, just a bunch of quirky artifacts that animate to attack ( {Darksteel Forge}, {Darksteel Reactor}, {Thoughtcast} ). Or you can be political with her and animate other people's artifacts in response to your own board wipe/someone else's.
Another fun suggestion would be {Roon of the Hidden Realm}. He can be a very good commander, as you can attack in with him then use his ability on opponents turns to have value with ETB creatures ( {Mulldrifter}, {Reveillark}, {Thragtusk} )
What's your favorite 3 color combination? That might help me understand more what you're looking for.

It's really cheap in comparison to most other powerful EDH decks
I mean, he did say he didn't want anything that's super fast combo or infinite turns. To that end, I'd have to recommend {Mayael the Anima} as well. You just get to play HUGE creatures and occasionally turn them sideways to win.

I have a great starting point for mayael, $115 shipped with sleeves and an alt art commander. Since the current buyer is being slow about getting back to me, I'll offer it to you as well. Page 2 of trades "I'm taking apart mayael". Big stompy creatures and staples. Add your own flavor of big stompy creatures.

Look at a bunch of lists and deck techs and you'll ge a better understanding of how he works as a commander

Not strictly true. There are dragons of all flavors for cheep. And you have baby eldrazi like {ulamog's crusher}, {pathraizer of ulamog}, and {artisan of kozilek}. This is a deck thats relatively inexpensive to build and can be upgraded easily.

Agree, but land base could be a money sink it's hard to hit rgw on turn 3 with a small budget hopefully you can hit it by turn 4 but that's turn you wanna cast explosive vegetation effects
{It that Betrays} Is relatively cheap and really good.
If you have a target by you look for last years commander decks. If they have a sticker on the UPC code they where under $10. Maybe pick one of those up if you can find one. It has some staples to make a commander deck.
