Title: Anti spambot
Post by: Ekann1 on March 13, 2015, 02:55:35 PM
i don't really know how you would do this as I can't think of anything that could block only bots and not people, but something to stop the wave of spambots would be nice...

Maybe something like they have on many other websites where you have to enter a sequence of letters/numbers from a picture on signup?

Maybe no links in someone's first 5 posts or so? Just throwing some ideas out there.

When my brother was logging into post for the first time I thought he had to enter a captcha? I'll check with him tomorrow to confirm, but maybe it's a one time thing.

Help us Piotr, we are drowning in spam bots. *choke*

What about a spam filter that if any of web addresses A, B, C are posted, the post won't go through? Not sure if this is feasible, just thinking outside the box. Otherwise, I'm more than willing to run around with my spam gun.

I'm ok doing that as well, but it would be so much easier if they couldn't even make accounts.

I just noticed you can actually ignore users by clicking on the ban icon (in the app) and adding them to ignore list. Though not a real solution, it helps a bit.

Then how do the bots get through?

Pilot of the bots makes the accounts, then bots post.

Maybe the new user's first post has to go through a mod before anyone else can see it?

Like it would only be visible to moderators+

Maybe something about no links in the first few posts?

Perhaps all new users must be approved by a mod or must post in a certain forum first before other forums to prove they are human. Much easier said than done tho

They could be asked about their favorite color in magic maybe?
