He may switch it back
I'm still at 160...?
100+ = no karma #
<100 = - karma, where the karma # = how many till you get to 100

Yeah, instead of climbing towards 100, I now have a goal of getting my self out of the negative and to 0! Sweet!

I thought you did something to the code and had an unexpected outcome. Now that I hear the explanation, I understand. I wouldn't say "screwed it up" but it's not my favorite.
Which 'the explanation'?
I'd like having a negative total ๐
I was about to post a thread asking how my karma went from 85 to -14 in one day. What did I do wrong? D:
However this new idea is interesting, I'd like it much better if you could climb above 0, as now all the "respectable" users have no karma at all, which is weird.
The other thought is that it makes it look like we have bias against new people. "Here have a big number to get rid of before we respect you!"
Interesting...

It's how many more you need to get to 100
By his question I'm getting the feeling that that explanation is more of a guess and possibly not true... Correct me if I'm wrong Piotr.
Also if that is true, I see no difference between this new system and the 2nd new one, except that you're making people start in the negatives, which seems like a bad way to make new users stay...
Good deal. I get a neg on just about every post, so I just thought you all went crazy on hating my opinions!
So basically what seems to have happened is everyone's visible karma from the previous karma update has had 100 subtracted from it?
I think just having the number shown would be nice. Cause 101 karma and 463 karma is a large difference.

Karma is not visible on posts with 100 or more positive karma. For people who are under 100 karma, their number appears as the distance they need to go. For example, if I have 40 karma, it will display on posts as -60 karma. If you have actual negative karma (are below 0 on your profile page), your number will appear as -100 +(-x) where x is the number of negative karma you have. All players karma can be viewed on their profile page. This number will display the number before the shift on posts, so Gorzo will be at 400 or wherever he is. People in the negative will appear as their negative, not their negative +(-100).

Obviously, this is your app and you are free to do what you like, but the ban was a bit rash, even if {{GlowackAttack}}'s post was a little out of line. Also, in my opinion, banning over something so small stirs up the community and may discourage new users. Is there another way this could be handled (not a rhetorical question, an honest inquiry)? That said, I honestly didn't notice the change until I read {{5/9 Turtle}}'s post, I assumed someone had necroed a thread from the first time Karma changed. The change is probably a positive or neutral change, karma really doesn't effect anything and if someone really wants to see if another user is 'trustworthy' they can still check their profile (not that karma really determines that). Although, I do see the point that others are making, maybe -100 to 0 will discourage new people, is there a way we can convert that into titles (for example, someone with -100 to -90 karma could be "Beginner", -89 to -80 a "Novice", etc.)?

Don't you think that's a little far? It seems to be that if what he says you don't agree with you are going to 10 day ban him. You banning him because he doesn't agree with your views seems a little over the top. That's what dictators do they get rid of people who don't agree with them, by you saying that you're starting to become a dictator. Do you really want this to happen?

GlowackAttack got confused, he didn't realize that if you have perfect karma, no karma shows up. So he thought that you (Piotr) erased it. Instead of banning him for making an incorrect statement, maybe you could have instead showed him where he was wrong?

Plus, if you anger the people on "your property" (the forum) it will make them want to stop using "your property" (the forum [or even the app]) and then you would not be able to sustain "your property" (app, forums and the community in its entirety).... Just my 2ยข

See last time he created a mob people left but most stayed so this doesn't really happen
Newer people seem to be affected by karma status rather than older members.
It takes time to surpass 100( like 6 months) but eventually you just stop looking at that number.
You will get random negs due to someone thinking you did not like their post (I know this because I can see who marks)
In the end, karma goes up for strong traders and strong communicators in areas like rules and combos
A negative number is something we have been taught to not desire, but its just a number, and the karma actually has helped trading be much more secure
Change happens people
It's not the end of the imtg experience
So I might have missed this, but how does the new karma system work? I have under 100 karma, but there is not negative for me??
Please explain in smallish words what the goal of the change is as well. It seems like it may annoy many people for no good reason

im guessing if you are a "boss" it doesnt show up? I agree with everyone that wants to show the whole karma either positive or negative under our names, however we all may be over reacting to this. I mean, you can still click on someones profile and see their karma, so if someone is posting weird or annoying crap, thats what i always do anyways to see their "history" on the forum and check their percentage of thumbs up to understand if that person is just a difficult person or if they just didnt like a post or said something unpopular. In the end we are all still talking here and using this and trading, and communicating and having fun. Karma never stopped to trade with someone, the trusted trader posts is where i check first. if it stays like this or goes back to the way it was, or even the way it was before i started using the forum i think we'll be fine in the end. I mean.. Are you not entertained? ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED????
