Title: Nissa Worldwaker Discussion
Post by: Mattao19 on July 18, 2014, 03:38:56 PM
{Nissa Worldwaker}

I say she's a good planes walker but nothing too special. Others (Ctln or whatever your name is ;) lol) think otherwise.

Anyways what's your opinion on her

I like her flavor and I have been looking to revitalize my mono green deck.  I also like her in a RUG funsy deck with the infinite combo.  I personally think she is close to broken.....so much power for 5 mana IMO.

If it was 5 mana in another color then it would be one thing but green make this girl cast much sooner than T5!

She's pretty crazy, especially with RTR rotating and devotion being a thing.

Bad until rotation. While verdict is in the format, her only use is ramp. She won't be able to protect herself so long as there's a wrath in standard.

One bad matchup doesnt eliminate a deck entirely. Look at hexproof. Wraths destroy that deck, but it is still top tier

{aetherspout} will ruin her ultimate for sure but I agree.  Just because there is an answer does not mean it sucks

What would you think of a creature that:

{3}{G}{G}  Nissa

{0} : untap 4 target forests (use once per turn after Nissa has been in play one turn and only as a sorcery)

{0}: target land you control becomes a 4/4 creature with trample (use once per turn after Nissa has been in play one turn and only as a sorcery)

{0}: search your library for any number of basic lands, in addition, those lands become 4/4 creatures with trample (activate this ability after Nissa has been on the BF for 4 or more turns once per turn and only as a sorcery)

Trample
4/4

Ok so that was my attempt to make Nissa as a creature with the same abilities.  I would pay 5 mana for that ;)

Well she's an awful creature bc she does to every removal in the format. D Blade Ult Price Miz Mortars ... But I'm sorry I'm still not sold like you

Ok, more reasons. Most decks can race a nissa, her lands die to removal so not only does she not protect herself very well, she makes your lands vulnerable, 5 is a place where monsters decks won't want to have a planeswalker as me has her, in bant she can only help if you rev main phase. Shea bad in the following matchups; monsters, control, any aggro deck, mono black, and burn...

Also, hexproof has ways to protect from a verdict. Hexproof is good in way more matchups than nissa is...

Tl;dr, nissa is bad

Is losing one or two lands really that big of deal when she ramps you by up to four extra mana? I mean maybe if they have a way to kill the lands AND her, but that doesn't seem like i would happen all that often.

I think she's pretty good, but nowhere near as good as people seem to think she is ($40!? Seriously!?). She'll see play in standard, but not outside of a select few decks (3-4 tops).

Dies to removal is not a valid reason not to play a card :p

I think she'll be fantastic. I'm very concerned about getting lands removed, but you're playing green, and better the lands than her or you. I think she'll really shine in mono green EDH. Especially if you're playing Planeswalker EDH. In my books it's a Planeswalker that doesn't suck like Tibalt, so it's good. If it wasn't counterable it'd be too good.

I was playing on untap earlier today against someone playing nissa. She is a force to he reckoned with. The person used her to chored into hornet queen which made my fliers pretty much useless.

Btw she is difficult to deal with
