My current brew. It needs work, undoubtably. I want to put in {Iroas, God of Victory} as he synergizes well with {Kaalia}, and also {Athreos} to take a slower route. I also need to get an {Avacyn} and an {Iona}. Looking for tips on what to take out, and also critiques of my land base, which, while sometimes allows me to get explosive starts with Kaalia, is not quite where I want it to be

I 100% agree with you. I've been trying to get my hands on one for a while, which is frustrating considering I had a foiled one from an intro deck when I was younger...

Hey man, love the decklist and the name! It looks very well thought-out. Kaalia is a simple build in nature: get big guys out and win... but many make the mistake of puting nothing but big guys in! Your list has good ramp (nice dark ritual addition!), draw (necropotence is awesome), and utility (lightning helix and other utility cards like that are way underused in EDH. But very valuable.), along with the appropiate angels and the like. +1 :)

Thanks! Do you have any suggestions? there are a few more angels and demons to get, namely a {Rakdos the Defiler}, but I'm really liking how {Rakdos, Lord of Riots} plays. if I get him out with Kaalia and then my opponents remove Kaalia, he does a good job of swinging and then helping me get fatties out, as mana is always an issue with such a high CMC deck 😊

Any advice, iMtG?

Considered  {Tariel, Reckoner of Souls}? Great big flying body with a cutesie ability. Plus that artwork tho. And what is mana cost to a kaalia deck?

Aurelia seems better, being an angel to cheat in and stuff.

Also, maybe consider another board wipe or 2 for when the whole table turns against you for playing Kaalia. ;)

I'm also a fan of keeping Aurelia. I figure dropping the {Library of Leng}.. I don't see enough draw for maximum hand size to be necessary, and the discard thing is just a nicety. Don't know what else to drop though..

I see dropping that too. It just plays nice with {Necropotence} until I get a {Reliquary Tower}

{if you wanted something extra while getting the maximum hand size {venser's journal} would probably be fun

1 {Libray of Leng} - obvious reasons, this card is kinda a dead draw unless I have {Necropotence} out.
1 {Thundermaw Hellkite} honestly this guy is just a big body with an ability that isn't such a big deal in EDH
1 {Liliana of the Dark Realms} - may put her in instead of the {Triad of the Fates} I have currently, but I want to try out triad a bit more first. Thoughts? will update the deck list soon.

I agree on all decisions. Thundermaw isn't the game changer he was when he was a star in standard in EDH. Library was already discussed. Cavern is a really really good decision for such a hated commander, and Liliana just searches for swamps, which we both know you don't always need. Triad is super cool. Really flexible, cheap, and subtle while sorta threatening. I'd love to see how he does.

Since Kaalia is removed, a lot, I'd recommend {Edgewalker} in order to make her cost just {1}{R}

Wow! I had not even considered that. That's a great pseudo-ramp card too. Love it. Will be finding a slot for this soon.

Pulled a {Dictate of the Twin Gods}, {Godsend}, and foil {Aegis of the Gods}. Put them in here. Thoughts?

A purchase I made yesterday was the LGS had {Maze of Ith} on sale for $30. I thought that would run nicely with {Kaalia} (even though it doesn't tap for mana, which can be a problem if it's in your starting hand!) and boy was I right. Turn 4 I swung with {Kaalia} and put down a {Chancellor of the Annex}, swinging into an opponent's {Medomai the Ageless}. He obviously blocks {Kaalia}, and I use {Maze of Ith} to save her: that land essentially allows me to always swing with her, regardless of what the opponent has to block with!!

I would say replace the diabolic tutor with a planar portal. 2 extra mana, but you can use it every turn if need be.
