But you do get to keep your own stuff on the table, which imo is better than the lifegain :)
I'd personally prefer a board reset. I play a commander deck behind {Grand Arbiter Augistin IV} all about such things. It's also just general control
Two {knight exemplar}s + {planar cleansing}
on your field: {sol ring}, {jade statue}, {zuran orb}
1) cast {balance} when its the only card in hand.
2) in response, sac all lands to zuran orb
You now have a ton of life and a pseudo-creature.
It's even better if you cast balance when your opponent has no hand... can't be countered then lol

With cyclonic they get to keep their lands, and that is no fun

I've done something similar. I had out {Master Transmuter} and {Vedalken Orrery} with {Mycosynth Lattice}. I used master's ability to put out {Blightsteel Colossus} and on the stack I {Merciless Eviction}. One of my better combo moments.
{Mycosynth Lattice} + {Hurkyle's Recall} ;)
