I think it's fair to say we'll see Bob and {Thoughtseize}. Is the printin going through the end of Alara block or up to Alara? Because if it's through to the end of Alara then we'll most likely see {Path to Exile} as well.

{Kitchen Finks} will be printed at rare. Same with {Sensei's Divining Top} (?) I'm seeing {Dark Confidant} and {Thoughseize} at Mythic.

They are only printing Modern legal cards. No {Sensei's Divining Top} (already reprinted in From the Vault: Exiled).
The set runs from 8th Edition - Alara Reborn. The set also does not contain any cards which are on the banned list of the Modern format at the time of its design.
Also, Modern Masters will be available for Magic Online. The set will NOT be redeemable.

They won't print cards to flood a market, not even close. They're going to marginally increase the supply, that doesn't mean prices will drop. They'll hardly be touched. Older versions with original artwork will always be sought after. I know I definitely have a {Tarmogoyf} preference. For now though, if this is my way to get my hands on on Goyf then sweet, I'll take it. The last thing WotC wants to do is upset the secondary market, especially collectors. This is the exact thing they're trying NOT to do with Modern Masters.

I agree. Although my fiancé disagrees because that would give black an unfair advantage having 3 mythics {Dark Confidant}, {Kokusho, the Evening Star}, and {Thoughtseize}.
{Thoughtseize} will probably be rare again. I am completely floored by the amount of money they're printing in this set. It's like every single card is worth something. There may not be a bad pack in this whole thing - if these spoilers are to be trusted.

Well yeah, that's Channel Fireball. Not a regular LGS
I notice most lgs in my area have some dedicated modern players, but getting them all together for a bigger tourney is kinda tough. Sometimes the tournaments don't happen at all :/ things should pick up in a few weeks tho after MM.

I'm selling off some of my more valuable record collection for some decent recording gear. I'm considering taking a gamble and buying a box of MM to see of I'd be able to turn a profit. Probably not though. Recent pulls haven't been too forgiving :(

That's because most of the rares are worth more than $10, let alone the uncommons...
I understand that, but then I guess my complaint would be at wizards for making the msrp of 6.99. Basically turns out to be a "rooster" tease. They should have came out and said its $11 a pack cause its limited production and want to rake you over the coals. At least I have a place that's about 30 miles from me that's selling current block boxes for $80. He won't say how much he's selling mm for so I might have to take a ride down to the shop next Friday and wait inline before he opens to see if mm is a good deal or not.

Actually, it's mostly about supply and demand. Small supply and large demand = high prices. Since this is a limited run set with a short production everyone will sell it higher than msrp. My lg is selling packs@10 also. Fine with me because I'm liquidating my modern and legacy to focus on standard as no one here plays anything but edh and standard.
Yeah my LGS aren't selling boxes. I'm probably just going to do a sealed draft or two whatever they hold, it just makes more sense than gambling at $10 a pack

Modern Masters online sets will not be redeemable, so you can actually play Modern for the sake of playing Modern without the costs associated with it.

Contrary to that belief, it is going to be release the same day as Modern Masters paper. In general, Magic Online gets expansions and core sets 3 weeks after paper (as a compromise they made with Brick and Mortar retailers). But since Modern Masters digital will not be redeemable for a Paper set (similar to Masters Edition and From The Vault sets), it can be released simultaneously.
In a bit of a "plug" (if there ever was one) I wrote a pretty decent guide for Magic Online (here. (http://imtgapp.com/forum/index.php?topic=22936.0)) It highlights some reasons to transition online. Modern Masters will almost certainly make the online barrier of entry 40x lower then it is currently for Modern. Standard already exists as a desperately lower barrier of entry.
It basically all depends on why you play in general. The reprint policy is almost indefinitely a net "positive" for Magic players in general. If you play cockatrice, and don't pay for anything - it is a strictly worse endeavor. If you want to play the greatest in the world, and not deal with the type of players cockatrice brings (can't blame you) - then MTGO is in your future.
I'll also let it be known that I receive no money for the promotion of Magic Online, or any website I might promote in the guide. I'm simply a fan like everyone else. I just know {Tundra} costs $25 online, where it costs hundreds in paper. If not for the reserve list - online Magic would have nothing on paper. Original Dual lands (while eminently awesome) should cost that amount - as much as Standard staples.
Plus If you spend $40 and a season you get foil promos for free (

Yes i agree! I had just started playing when the onslaught fetch lands came out. I had almost a play set of each and I was young and stupid and thought meh they r not worth anything so I get rid of them for like 6-7 dollars each....so disappointed in myself lol.

No, it's a different type of set altogether. Your LGS may hold a draft or a sealed event, but they'll be around $25-26 (draft) to $50 (sealed).

They grab almost any shockland (in some decks, the right fetches grab them all), they put lands in the graveyard, (which is important for {Tarmogoyf} and {Knight of the Reliquary}) they they trigger landfall twice, and yes, they thin out your deck.

Based on the cards they've choosen to reprint, one is lead to believe that the staples they missed ({Damnation}, {Thoughtseize}, {Noble Hierarch}) would lead me to believe a reprint is on the horizon.
Strictly speaking, a "Modern staples" set should indeed contain Shocklands, but they were very recently reprinted. So I believe those cards are vacant for a very specific reason.

Totally agree, wizards has other plans but I would have loved to pick up a few right now. I think it's safe to say they understand the demand for a set like this.
My friend an I were discussing {Thoughtseize} in Standard. It's very possible we'll return to Lorwyn/Eventide on the next "Return" block. So after Theros.

I'd love opening a tarmy in foil but I'm realistically looking for foils for my modern affinity deck and I rly want a city of brass in foil.
