It can only copy spells, as in instants and sorcerys still waiting to resolve on the stack. It can copy flashed back spells. Maybe that's what your bud was talking about. Otherwise he needs to read teh rulez of magixxx

Nope we were playing and he targeted a {Doom blade} that was in the graveyard. I asked him what the hell r u doing. Thats when he told me that
He probably doesnt understand the stack. Many newer players beliee cards go from your hand to their respective zone with nothing in between. It is important to realize that all non land cards pause on the stack before hiting the graveyard or field.
