iMtG joins anti-SOPA protest. If the legislation is passed, I may be responsible for everything you say here in this forum and this may mean the end of it.

Are you bringing a halt to the forum for the time being?
Today. I'm following Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page)and the others, we're shutting services down for a day.

Mate, I can't help but feel like everything is against you and your awesome little app. Here's to you to continually prevail over evil!ðŸ»
Thanks :D
Wow... Good luck to you mate!
Ugh good luck.
Hope everything works out 4 u Good Luck
SOPA and PIPA. Wow. If you actually read the bills, they're so abstractly worded, you can tell the authors have only a vague idea of what the Internet actually is.
Props to you for the protest. ðŸ˜,,
I decided to join the protest because I think most of the people don't know about SOPA and even if they do they think that this is not going to affect them. Well, it does.
Today I realised how often I use Wikipedia ;]
In other news, I mentioned already that company which is acting on behalf of Hasbro sent DMCA take down letter to Apple asking them to remove iMtG from the app store. It was on December 20th, a day before I decided to quit my day job to work full time on iMtG. I already wasted many hours researching the trademark law, similar cases and the situation in general, time which I should have spent implementing foils into the app. I'm pretty sure now that they can not harm iMtG name nor our logo, as they simply do not hold trademarks on MTG (a japanese soap company does :D ) and their trademark on colour pentagram specifically mentions the order of colours and circles.
The remaining bit is our use of card's graphical and literary content, and we shall see about that. I have written to the lawyers and asked for friendly cooperation, but so far there's no reply.
If it comes to the worst and they won't talk to me and sue, I will ask for your support and some lobbying with WotC ;)
Man, I hate all this "anti-piracy" junk! They'll let people play with guns all they want, but hint at threatening giant moneymakers like Hollywood and RIAA (who are still making money hand-over-fist) and watch the politicians do their puppet-dance.
I agree that piracy sucks, but they're dropping a nuclear bomb to take out a purse-snatcher.
>:( >:(
Good luck to you Piotr!
Edit: and NOW Hasbro has their panties in a twist. Sometimes I love WotC, other days... >:( I'll support however I can! I'm pretty sure that they can't go after you for the graphical content, because tons of other sites (mtgsalvation, tcgplayer, et al.) would be in the same boat.
They're just jealous. ;) Hasbro is probably trying to clear the app market before they release their app at the end of the month.
I'm wondering how MaRo would feel about all of this...
No! How can I lose my most favorite app forum? î'
By the way, if you go to Wikipedia and press esc multiple times, then you can use it. î–

I've messages him on his public blog 4 times now ages ago about the topic with no reply. You guys can try to I suggest:

Please, please be polite and civil when speaking with anyone from WotC. For all I know, they may not even be aware that DMCA was sent against iMtG (although I did ask for a legal audit of iMtG back in September) and the whole affair is maybe just the making of the legal company contracted by Hasbro. WotC is the company which is making our favourite game and without which iMtG could't exist anyway, we want to be friends with them.

I couldn't agree more with Piotr. If you do contact one of them, do not demand or even plead. All you would need to do in a legal situation as this one is just add your name to the list of people concerned about a particular issue, in this case the possible force removal of a tiny (great) app by Big Corporation. No more no less. You don't need to rant.
I didn't realize the open slate I left for hate slingers when I put his blog's URL, so I agree with Piotr, please be civil and short with your responses. 😊
This ap is amazing so I'm in. Not much alot of ppl can't do if they put there heads together. We are many voices to be heard as one we got this
I know the Mark Rosewater has been lamenting the lack of a good MtG app for some time (before iMtG). He loves Apple products and I think he would appreciate iMtG. Thing is, as Spikepit and Piotr have said, this isn't his battle and trying to drag him into it might sour people from the idea.
My suggestion would be to leave MaRo out of this one, at least for the time being. He'd probably be in conflict of interest anyway.

Agreed. He would be backing MtG Toolbox anyways (even if he has been anonymously using this app for the time being)

😳 Whoa man, could you imagine?! How embarrassing! Anyone of us could be him!
I could be him! Lol ðŸ˜
P.S. I now second Black Jester last comment, let's leave him alone.
Ok, I'm officially not Maro :D

Could not reproduce. How many times?
Click on Wikipedia English, start pressing esc multiple times, page should show. Takes a bit of practice.
As an ironic note Wikipedia app is still going strong.

So will iMtg's forum be back online tomorrow? Cause of not I'm gonna go through withdraw :'(
I wasn't even aware of this bill. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. What an insult to those who value free speech. We stand with you on this Piotr! (and check GOOGLE's logo folks. Poignant).
Good luck on this one P.
We're back, for now. I have very little doubt that sooner or later politicians will get their way and they will censor the internet. Protect the children :P

By the way, I'm not a Republican.
Neither am I, I'm libertarian, more - less. I will be endorsing the guy in due time ;)

I'm an independent. î
I don't really think that the Internet thing will pass. I mean huge websites like DeviantArt, YouTube, and Facebook (just to name a few) won't let themselves go down and will inadvertently save us all.

Bleh. Yu gi oh. They stink up my lgs so bad my friends and I hold our breath to get to the mtg room.
Waitasec... I get on the forum, look in announcements, see the lack of the 'iMTG is fighting Trademark Laws!' thread, and think, oh good, Wizards must have backed off. But now it turns out that not only have they not, SOPA might get you too? You have a rough life man!
I confess that iMTG isn't my favorite magic app, but wizards killed iGatherer, and this one is awesome too. Don't give in Piotr!

SOPA is just PITA. Lawyers did not back off but I'm not scared of them anymore (if I ever was).
