Alright since this is the first real article Ill review three cards instead of just one. Today our first card is pyrexian splicer. Im not usually a fan of old cards but this one is surprisingly good. You can use it as a combat trick and let one of your creatures get through or you can make their's lose a ability and block it. I attack with my surpreme exemplar I use phyrexian splicer and block with ghoultree (or just give ghoultree shadow. This cards downside is that it is very weak. It dies to almost any removal and your opponent certainly will try to get rid of it. The best scenerio for this card would to have it with a mask of avacy (or other hexproof giving equipment) and then you can completely controll the game.
Our second card today is skullclamp Drawing cards is always a good thing and skullclam seems to have found a pretty easy way. You can equip to a one toughness creature and get two cards or you can equip and fling. Any deck that uses sacrificing creatures as a power source needs this card. However if you have no sac outlet and no huge creature that can force a block this is a dead card. Then it basically makes your 2/2 unnlockable. Also if you are playing a one drop turn one then this and equiping turn two, your opponent will be ahead on the creature count. All in all this card is awesome and in any deck were there is saccing or mass removal day of jugement, damnation, planar clensing this card really shines it puts you ahead of your opponent on your race to rebuild your board.
Our last card today is Avatar of woe This card is a complete slaughterhouse. Tap: Destroy target creature. That is unbeliveable. However eight mana is a lot so in comes its second effect. If you can activate this ability and cast the avatar on turn three or four your chances of winning increase immensly. also a 5/6 body is not bad at all for attacking with. This card is great and should be in any black deck with loads of removal. The backside to this card is that it costs so much, and when you do get it out someone is just going to kill it straight away. Still, I think this card is awesome and I think there are many decks where this would shine. Thanks -Thorn
