Lots of people improve their decks over time. Looking for economical fixes shouldn't be frowned upon. Vials are an excellent way to improve the deck, but there may be more budget friendly options as well. It gives him a goal to work towards, but is there help in the short term?

Descendants path is excellent and very overwhelming in edh
The sliver that gives poison counters....I forget the name..is good to go Aggro to the face ESPECIALLY since it stacks (play one turn one. Play two more urn two, and you got for 3 poison turn 2, 9 MORE poison turn 3)
Listened to drive to work today. Episode called 2013. Maro brought up slivers from magic 2014 and talked about how the mechanic that it affects only owner they liked. But they got bad response about the way they looked. He then goes on to say that they will go back to old way they looked. Then back stepped and said we haven't seen the last of slivers.
More slivers? Yessssssss! Maybe the block after innastrad? Fingers crossed.
Edit. So I looked at the slivers from m15 compared to the old to see the different styles and came across venom sliver. Ans it's flavor text got me thinking. If poison arrows the slivers can adapt to and make into their own weapon, what would we get if a sliver hive came across the eldrazi? Would they be able to adapt? And if so how?
