Oath of the Gatewatch - Spoilers and speculations

The reason why they have that reminder text is that cards of this type...adding extra mana and whatnot almost always say "add one of that color" and sick colorless is now an option I believe they want to sort of distinguish what they mean by "of that type" I could be wrong though

dictate of Karametra (for reference) also mentions type, as does extra planar lens.
Never was a big fan of reminder text, yet I could see the appeal to new players as well.

Captains claws:  2 mana. Equip 1. When equipped attacks. Put a 1/1 Kor ally on the battlefield tapped and attacking. Super super super awesome for getting those "allies gain lifelink and indestructible" type of bonus. Awesome


Also, Cohort sucks. Tapping down two creatures for borderline playable abilities is just never fun

The claws are definitely gonna help in reliably getting those Rally abilities. Just too late for the vigilance one to matter, but for the rest it's awesome.

The claws are less for the ally decks than they are for the ones that get bigger

Or get indestructible and first strike, or drain people in the case of . And that's even before considering Ally EDH. All those triggers every turn.

There are already so many jaces? But honestly look at the current meta. Ori-jace is dominant. And blue is a very strong color right now. And another "good" jace would make blue that much better and if they made a rather lame one, everyone would complain.

Grasp of darkness reprint confuses me. They printed lash of the whip because grasp of darkness was too powerful for a 2 drop in standard only to reprint it like 2 years later :S

2 years ago this card called Pack Rat was legal and giving that Mono B deck Grasp might've made it even more OP

Actually, rotation isn't until Inistrad releases in April. This is set two of block 3, with block 1 being KTK/FRF and block 2 being DTK/ORI.
Once block 4 set 1 (Shadows Over Inistrad) releases, block 1 rotates.
