To be slightly more specific to avoid future confusion; they counters are removed as a statebased action so if it would die by a state based action such as having a +1/+1 counter and 30 -1/-1 counters on it. Under that case it would die having a +1/+1 counter as well as 30 -1/-1 counters on it.
It doesn't work if you look at Mikaeus the unhallowed's effect it say all non-human creatures gain undying. If it wasn't for conspiracy this wouldn't work.

Melira's gatekeepers + Requiem Angel + Mikaeus the Unhallowed + Conspiracy + Anything that allows you to keep sacrificing creatures for infinite spirits

this actually doesn't work at all because conspiracy doesn't change the existing creature type it just add what you chose to it so a human will still be a human but it will be a human + whatever you chose when u play conspiracy

We addressed this in rules recenty. It replaces all preexisting creature types

It doesn't look like it changed. As far as I read into it, it does indeed overwrite previous creature types.

9/20/2013 Affected spells, cards, and creatures lose all of their other creature types.
The rules links are having issues lately. I alway hit gatherer to be sure.

I'm about positive this is somewhere in the forum, but its still great! Fathom Mage, Horizon Chimera, and Archangel of Thune to draw, get counters, and gain life for as long as you want
