Sideboard Notes: Been meaning to post the final results of the deck. This version works the best in my playgroup, and is a lot of fun. Tons of drawing and discarding, and reanimation. There are a few cards I keep on standby if the deck needs tweaked for an opponent, but other than that, the deck works very nicely, even against more fast-paced opponents.
I have a Sedris deck that I am very much considering dismantling. How exactly does your deck stand a chance against fast decks?
What is the minimum amount of land you will start a game with when drawing your first hand??
Sedris can be pretty tricky to play, as he's not normally a very fast commander. The thing that lets this deck keep up with faster decks is the amount of card draw and discard. With so much draw power and discarding (a good deal of them being repeatable) you're bound to put some nice big creatures in your grave very fast. I've never had a problem having at least 2-3 big creatures in the grave by turn 3. Bringing them back is easy too, with all the reanimation in the deck, it's hard to not draw one. Turn 4 or 5 usually has a couple big creatures on the field that the opponent can't match. While waiting, there are some removal spells (I've avoided targeting spells for the most part) that can usually ward off the opponent for a turn or two. As for land, the deck is pretty consistent with having 3 lands in the opening hand. Again, there are some cards I have on standby for certain opponents (Forced March is lovely against tokens), but this version seems well rounded. It has a bit of whatever you need to deal with an enemy. Of course, we all get bad hands and luck, but this deck does pretty well on its own.
A friend of mine plays a sedris deck, and I must say, the shenanigans that can be pulled off are pretty fun. I highly recommend Heartless Hidetsugu for that reason - unearthing him with haste is a nasty little trick. And if you're losing as the only player with under 20 health...slap Phyresis on him
Darn it, Gorzo, giving me cool ideas He'll be going in very soon. Any other creatures that are easy to abuse when given haste? There are a couple of big creatures I've been wanting to take out, but I'm having trouble coming up with replacements.
