We don't know anything about RtR yet so why even think about post-rotation?

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 who cares about post rotation until the set actually comes out!

Rotation doesn't happen until a while. Idc about rotation. I will say this though: when it comes, if they don't give mono black a replacement for oblit and lashwrithe, I will be annoyed.

Thorn

So basically if they do not remake the cheapest mono-black  card ({Phyrexian Oblitorator}) and a super epic equipment then you get pissed?

Coffee Vampire

Not remake, just relplace (with somethig just as awesome). And it is cheap...but it's not like anyone runs mono black in standard.

GoJuDragon

I personally like geralfs messangers in any mono black

Coffee Vampire

Yeah, Messenger seems like a solid 4 or 3-of. I am just having a hard time finding the balance between discard, removal, and creatures.

What I have going right now is an anti-aggro deck. If I faced creaturless control, I would scoop the first round right away and then replace all my removal with discard. That way my opponent would not know the deck, and if he or she sideboards, it will be guesswork and will make their deck worse.

Still, I am jus not sure of how much discard/removal to run. I do know that I will replace {Distress} in the sb with {Ravenous Rats}, thanks to infinitivdivinity :) (I don't think I spelled his name right lol)

Have you playtested at all? This deck seems a bit confused, although mine is very heavy discard with aggressive follow up. It's hard to compare them without telling you to make mine. But with {Griselbrand}, and especially because you're running 4 Lilly's, I almost want to say {Unburial Rites}? Just throw in 4 {Isolated Chapel} in case you want to hit the Flashback. The Chapels barely take away from Lash, and they always come in untapped, I did the same thing in my Mono-Black Zombies before M13 dropped. Also, Rites makes you WANT to discard Grisel or Bloodgift to Lilly, then you throw them into play for 5 instead of 6 or 8.

InfinitiveDivinity

My favorite play with Lilly, {Grave Titan}, and Rites, went like this. You play Lilly turn 3, discard huge guy (Titan in this case), pass turn after attacks etc. Turn 4, activate Lilly to discard Rites, (you need a Chapel for this to work), then with your 4 mana, assuming you hit every land drop, you Flashback Rites and BAM! Black Ramp! Turn 4 Bomb!

InfinitiveDivinity

Sorry, this is a lot to read, but also, Nighthawk is to good not to run 4 of. Although I'm extremely biased with this guy, he is so OP. He kills ANYTHING w/o First Strike, and his combo with {Lashwrithe} is pure stupidity. Also, he helps get you back from Lash's equip pain, {Sign in Blood}s leeching, Grisel's stupid card advantage, and Bloodgift's baby advantage. And I already said this, but Nighthawk + Lash! 

Turn 3 Hawk.
Turn 4 Lash, pay 4 life, equip to Hawk, swing, gain 6.

^^^ One of my favorite tempo plays.

We don't like to talk about that...

Coffee Vampire

Thanks for all the advice, man. Yes it was lost. I didn't know if I wanted discard main or removal main. Or how many creatures I wanted.

I edited it a bit. I went with the rats like you said. I also added a lot of discard mainboard, with 4 go for the throat to make sure any creature that they cast doesn't stay long. If they manage to cast a plainswalker, then I am to blame since a crapload of my cards allow me to look at their hand and make them discard a plainswalker.

With this much discard, I felt extraction was nescesary mainboard. This deck would really hurt control. However, the way I built it, I will be sideboarding game 2 always. Once I find out if it's control or creature based, I can either add more discard power or a ton of removal. For instance, if I find I am against control, I'll probably side out the obliterators for shimian specters. As for tokens, I have mutilate and black sun's at my disposal, plus sever the bloodline.

What do you think, still lost or heading in the right direction?
