But what if the stack has a rack? ;)

What frustrates me is that @$$hole guys like that discourage girls from playing MtG because they don't feel welcomed.  And that only further perpetuates the whole "boys club" mentality that is associated with MtG. It's a vicious circle that really sucks.

I think this is what Moneekahh and others are getting at...

Ghetto Pass

I'm not saying that it's not uncool.  I'm saying it shouldn't matter.  When you look across the table you should see an opponent, nothing else.

Yes yes yes!  Couldn't agree more! Play the game, have fun, shake hands.  GG!

We could spend this thread talking about how awesome women in MtG are.

Dudecore

I've played with girls. My brother met his girlfriend at one of the events I was at. My playgroup has 2 girls in it. I don't see the big deal.

I got paired against him in the second round and destroyed him, went on to place 2nd.

Lol, I love sweet justice.

Leviathan

Good job laying the smack-down on him lol. My environment doesn't allot for sexist gaming.

Great Example: My wife has wreck many people with her Naya Stompie deck.... We don't even know how it works.... It just... Wins lol

Also a friends wife frequents the draft tables. I beat her the only time I ever played her but I watched her dismantle several people at those events...

Then there is the proven truth of bewbs=better pulls....

My girlfriend had a deck that could consistently rout my deck and I hate it but I love that she likes to play. I never looked at an opponents gender because it never really affects the game as much as the cards in their deck do. Women in mtg Are as important as men in the game, hands down

InfinitiveDivinity

My girlfriend plays Magic with me, she's actually really good, I help her build her decks but she comes up with crazy combos. We never Net Deck either, only make Homebrews.

Sounds cozy.   :)

It's always a shame when people act like sexist jerks. :( In the group where I play we only have one female player, she has a leonin equipment deck and a treefolk deck. Both are very VERY scary. A friend's sister also plays sometimes with a token elf deck, also scary late game. I really love diversity in MtG, be it gender, personality or whatever. I feel really lucky playing with my mtg goup because of that. We have people in there of various religions, ethnicities, ages, sexualities, etc. That, to me, makes playing a fun and unpredictable experience.

There's a card shop in my city that doubles as a music venue. One FNM, my band was booked to play after the MtG festivities and I went early to check things out (as I was just getting back into Magic.) My wife and I have never gotten more stares than that night. Not a very welcoming environment. I also live in the south, so it's basically like that everywhere.

Mikefrompluto

Basically because I was an unfamiliar face, and she's a female. They seemed to be intimidated by females watching them play.

Come to Seattle, there are many women who play and no one thinks twice about it. It's ridiculous that this is even a topic of conversation.

I agree. Ridiculous. Also, I live in southern California, where most girls think they're above just about everything.
I play in southern California too. Are you near orange county by chance ?
