The art work is really cool.
Hey smokin Terry.  Can you pm me?  I haven't received a pm in a couple of days.  I wanna see if I'm having some kind of issue.

Just sent one.

They probably needed to fit it in the box.

I 💜 the fact that they can say "they fight each other" and it makes perfect "rules sense"!  Gooey with flavor!  :-9

Ikr!!!

It's both a very technical term with an exact meaning, yet powerfully descriptive and not technical sounding at all! :D

Quackmaster5

I like the technical termonology better. Seems to vibe better with the game then this dumbed down wording.

cltrn81

Yea I had to read {guild feud} a couple times

Dumbed down?

"fight" carries with its own set of rules that a player has to learn. Deathtouch factors in, first strike and double strike don't. It's not combat damage, even though it seems like it should be.

Terms like fight, dies, battlefield, exile are making the rules more flavorful while reducing the number of words printed on the card. Fewer words means that more abilities can make it on a card.  They are pretty intuitive, but players still need to learn a new term.

This card would never have made it to print if "fight" didn't exist, and I'm happier for it.

Even if it IS dumbing down, Magic needs a little from time to time because each set, each keyword, each card printed adds that much more complexity to the game. They're trying to be mindful of complexity creep. It's not like they are turning it from Chess to Checkers here.

That wasn't the part I was referring to. It was the "you do the same..." that I don't like. It sounds like they are talking to us and not relaying steps.

Sorry Quackmaster. 😓
I hear complaints about dumbing down all the time. It was a knee-jerk rant.

I've seen "do the same" on other cards, though I can't think of one off the top of my 🙆.
