Not stupid, but yes, you can pay {0} to cast it, it doesn't need to be {0} mana from a creature.

Well, technically it would have to be {0} mana from a creature. The thing is it being from a creature is redundant because its zero that need to be payed.

So If I use {heartless summoning} and cast {menmite}. I should gain two colorless right.... I mean if the spells costs two less to cast, and menmite is a zero....it becomes a negative two, so I gain.

I wish. Affinity would get a whooooole lot better. "I'm casting my Memnite for negative 6, so I also tap two for tezzeret and some for..."
