Showboating

Yeah I don't showboat at all. Not a fan of seeing it either, especially if there's plenty of gloating and d.baggery going along with it. In my play group we generally try and keep it fun and friendly.
Also with so many new players in our group I dont think it helps at all, most likely people wouldn't come back if it was like that all the time.

I tend to help people even when I'm winning and they have given up. Showing them they can still put up a fight no matter what the odds are. Keep them in the game and showing them its not over till it actually is, as already mentioned anything can happen. :)

I sit there and act like I'm losing. Then, I kill them and no one notices and they all wonder "Hey! How did that kid beat me!"
Example?
??? That's the closest I do to showboating. What do you mean example?

We play casually but there is definately alot of showboating in my meta, but not to be a dbag, just to have fun. Example I was in a three player game and playing my mill deck. I was playing against an angel deck and human ramp. I had one {sewer nemesis} out and it was currently a 53/53. My friend started getting his Angels out and was looking to fly over me. I had {geth of the vault} out and could have stolen any of his Angels I had gotten rid of in his GY. I decided to instead pay two mana, steal a {wingcrafter} and soulbond it to the nemesis. He screamed bc I had gone from one flyer to three. (i also had out a {belltower sphinx})

Can you soulbond when you steal a creature?  It's not entering the battlefield. Just switching sides.

I'm guessing he used Geth to steal it from their gy.

I am saddened to hear so many people say they do not showboat! I mean, I would never showboat at FNM or anything sactioned, but with friends? Since they already know me it is okay to gloat! It comes off as funny and not as arrogant. But yeah I do see how in some situations showboating could be harmful...like what one guy said about new people in his playgroup.

Ya he steals stuff from opponent gy. I had milled one earlier when I {traumatize}d him. Friend had a 100 card deck. Hence the 53/53 sewer nemesis.

I just smirk a little. I don't change my play, cause anything can still happen to cause you to lose the game.

BlackJester

Sometimes in a game I will have a choice: The best play and win the game, or a play that does something funny or interesting.  I always choose the latter.  Showboating?  I dunno.  It's funny though.  ;D

I don't I think it's rude and poor sportsman ship, usually if I destroy a deck I'll be nice, shake their hand and say good game and if they are newer ill ask what their win con is and give them some ideas on where to take the deck :) but I won't ever be rude about it.
