Need a deck idea for u/r

So my friend is very new to the game and wants to make a red and blue deck any ideas and he started about two weeks ago

My recommendation would be to start with a Preconstructed deck, best from M12. Core sets are geared more towards introducting players to the game. Also, building a deck with few or no cards is very tough for new players. Mono red would be a good place to start, IMHO.

Yeah I've told him that and he's got a good grasp of the game and likes it he just wants to make a r/u to be unique I've suggested mill and burn cards and he's just curious of other ideas other than the obvious

He can look at the Izzet guild from Ravnica block. R/U is mainly about control and burn. I like {Kiln Fiend} and cheap blue bounce for example.

{Burning Vengeance} decks are fun.
