If I was to build tamiyo to her 8 loyalty counters and then pop off her ultimate ability, would the emblem come into play first or would she go to the graveyard before the emblem comes into play???

Quackmaster5

Emblem comes into play bc you have paid the cost of removing the counters, then it checks to see of she has enough counters to survive.

Kuberr

That, my friends, is called the stack. :D

Achgook

So then in turn you can pop her off then return her to your hand after she is supposed to hit the graveyard due to the emblem?

Kuberr

The emblem resolves before she dies. Unless it says "creatures" that die. If it says creatures are returned, then she does not. Because she is not a creature.

No It says whenever a card would be put into your graveyard from anywhere you may return it to your hand

If you look at the rulings for Tamiyo, it specifically says that she does not go back to your hand

Achgook

That's dumb lol, but thank you for clearing that up for me, it's very helpful to know this

scarsabrex

however if you knock her up to 9 this will give you a very loyal tamiyo

Actually it isn't...the cost is 8 loyalty counters, which once paid kill her as result then resolve the emblem

BlackJester

She dies first.  Once you put the ability on the stack and players get to respond, the state is checked and PW with no loyalty are put in the gy.

Poof

It's like the pod question yesterday.  You are putting the ability on the stack at the same time she dies but the ability is still on the stack.  She'll be in the graveyard before it resolves

Yup, might as well just wait a few turns and really get a good use out of her
