I ordered a fat pack, the 5 intro decks and Planechase 2012. The set doesnt interest me, because I kinda figure at very best, the shock lands will come back (as the big reveal), very worst the core dual land will return, or the Mirrodin lands return. I am prepared for every scenario.

The problem with purchasing a booster box of any expansion is, each pack contains 1 rare (sometimes you get lucky with a foil). Sometimes you open {Hallowed Fountain}, sometimes you get {Otherworld Atlas}.

That being said, the return on a core booster box investment is lower still, considering the commons are bulk (and reprints to boot), the mythics are mostly reprints (few new, which aren't exhilarating). And it has it's versions of {Otherworld Atlas} (like that 7 mana artifact that taps and deals 1 dmg)

Oh I am well aware of the crap return on investment. But I buy boxes for the fun of opening packs, holding drafts with friends, and I like to give away the bulk crap to kids just starting out. I can easily afford it so why not.

I buy a variety pack (booster box, 5 intro packs, fat pack) for all the sets, except the core sets.
