Giselas ability means half damage is prevented. If I play a hypothetical 1/1 first strike, reach, deathtouch to block her attack does this mean she will still take 1 damage? The way I see it (probably incorrectly) is that she halves it to 0.5 leaving an imaginary 0.5 damage on the creature but as you can't deal 0.5 damage it has to be rounded up to 1. Or is she totally broken (IMHO) and make a 1/1 a 0/1?

Greg54js

It still deals 1 damage because it says half rounded up. So .5 rounded up is 1

It says "PREVENT half that damage, rounded up." so it would prevent .5 of the damage, but rounded up it would prevent 1 damage. So I am thinking you would take 0. Does that make sense? :0

Badluck is right

Poof

Hays is right your preventing half damage rounded up not taking it.  5/2=2.5 round up u get 3.  Prevent 3 take 2.

BadLuckIrish

I read Hays wrong. I was looking at it as prevent. Not you take damage

Stupid Gisela. I give up :p can't we all just play sigarda and be happy

Coffee Vampire

It actually isn't that hard. The DAMAGE PREVENTED is rounded up. So whoever said that 5 would be reduced to 2 is correct. This is because 5 has no middle, so you prevent 2.5 damage. BUT it says to round up. So you prevent 3 damage, taking 2 to the face.

A common mistake is to think that the damage TAKEN instead of PREVENTED is rounded up. However, this is not the case. Prevented damage is rounded up. If you are taking an even amount of damage, prevent half of it. If you are taking an odd amount (like 7), prevent EXACTLY half of the damage, then add .5. That's right. ADD POINT FIVE. Then once you are done with your basic adition fun skillz, PREVENT that amount of damage. That's right. DO NOT TAKE THAT AMOUNT OF DAMAGE; Prevent it!
