Would protection from black protect against {Captivating Vampire}'s ability? I can see that hex proof would.

Because it's a targeted ability, protection from black would work. Shroud and like you said hexproof also work.

Sweet then my green white human deck is pretty much immune from his ability as long as I have {Sigurda, Heron's Grace} and {Spectra Guard} equipped to her.
