Meren of Clan Nel Toth + Transforming Planeswalkers

If I played a transforming planeswalker like Liliana Heretical Healer and I transformed her into Liliana Defiant Necromancer and she was destroyed; could I use Meren of Clan Nel Toth's ability to get Liliana Heretical Healer from my graveyard? Or would I lose that option since she went to the graveyard as a planeswalker?

Indeed she is. Especially if you put a lot of elves in the same deck and add Shaman of the Pack. That gets even better if you have Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury on the battlefield. Lol
