Basically you put the suspected card in front of an LED light if light shines through its real if light doesn't it's fake.

Here's a link to a video that shows it roughly.

Not quite. The light will shine through on some fakes as well but it will not be consistent like a normal magic card. Truthfully it is quite scary because fakes are getting better over time and it is getting harder and harder to tell what is real.

Yes there are some very convincing fakes out there but this test gets most of them. After ripping the undertone of the card was black instead of blue so that was my way of knowing for sure they were fakes.

I've literally never received a fake.
How do you know? Any of your cards could be fake! 😮

Thanks, I tried this with my Jaces and they seem to shine through. My problem is, I could not find a fake among my most obvious candidates. Is anyone interested in sharing their fake with me, please? ;]

I would love to have a reference.

I have plenty of fakes as I collect them to teach people at my locals how to tell. If you want I can mail you some if you want to give me your address

I am feArful that I have faked and do not want to check because of plausible deniability.

Dstyle1

I would definitely post something on their storefront. Whether it was their fault or not.

How unethical is this. He paid me on the side the 260.00 and now tcgplayer is also making him refund me through them. Would me buying the Jace the mind sculptor off his page with his money to see if it's a fake too then deciding to just be up 520.00 if it's a fake and not pay him back? I mean, it's an eye for an eye and he tried to screw me originally if it was intentional. So basically if the Jace is real I'll pay him back his cash and just be up a Jace but if it's a fake teach him a lesson in scamming

I like it.

If the guy is selling fakes of 100$ cards he definitely deserves it.

Themugz

You have no idea if that guy got scammed when he obtained the cards himself, so that's unfair.

And on a seller side: they have no protection against people claiming a sale was a fake. They have to just go with the potential punches of getting scammed them self

Codester1991

These statements are why I asked because I myself am a good person and didn't want to do it but at the same time don't like thiefs/bully's/con artists so I thought maybe giving them a piece of their own medicine is somewhat deserved. Also, the chances of there bein 3 fake LOTV and the 1 Jace also being a fake would be pretty convincing evidence against him.

Codester1991

Whoever neg karma-Ed my idea needs to realize there are bad people out there who prey on magic players. I wasn't going to steal from him I was planning on buying another one of his cards and if it was legit he was getting his money back plus 80.00 for the Jace. So he was gaining business. I not flat out stealing I'm trying to prevent the same damn thing that happened to me from happening to someone else.

Themugz

I don't think your approach is correct. If I were you I would jist contact tcg player and let them handle it. They may have a scam team up their sleeve
