okay, this is my dilemma:
I've found something dumb.
Altar of the Brood
Kothoped, Soul Hoarder
Archfiend of Depravity
Shadows of the Past

All I need is a card that allows me to have the ability to "whenever I gain life, target opponent puts the top "X" cards into the graveyard"

That's just not gonna happen with these cards.
Koto is gonna have you draw cards and lose life for each creature over two. (With archfiend).
shadows lets you set up what you draw, but nothing is gonna enter the battlefield, so altar doesn't do anything.

A combo that does work this way is:
{painter's servant} & {grindstone}.

adventus

A {cloudstone curio} and 2 {crimson kobold}s with {alter of the brood} would do it.

No, that's not how that works.
