Damnation is sideboard for decks like grixis twin and whatnot, verdict is main board for the decks that need it

Which is basically every control deck in modern that runs white and blue

How would everything dying benefit him? I mean unless you made him indestructible which is most of the time white cards abilities

But to chime in on the "Which is better" topic:
They both wipe the board, typically, but the difference is the amount of "destroy" effects in black is overwhelming to the point where if you can't find the right kill spell for your meta, deck, playstyle, etc. then you just throw in a {Damnation} to cover all bases. Nearly the same can be said for white, but the difference is it's not so much "destroy" as it is "exile" anymore. I think I can safely say 9 times out of 10 exile is much better than destroy since there are more cards that retrieve cards from the graveyard vs cards that retrieve cards from exile. That being said though, white has enough board wipes that a friend made a whole deck of board wipes. His win-con? {Haunted Plate Mail}. So which is better? Neither is better than the other. It's how it is used in the deck that makes a card good or bad.

I will say after {Damnation} was printed we haven't seen a single mono {B} board wipe, except for cards like {Languish}.

I was thinking they were very similar. I wasn't sure if there was some protection I was missing that may have made damnation better. Thanks for the input guys.

In fact... They are not very similar, they are the same. {damnation} is the time shifted version of {wrath of God}. Same effect in a color that wouldn't normally have such effects according to the color pie. So don't hold your breath for either a reprint or more {B} wipes. Black does sweepers and targeted destruction. White is the color for wipes.

{wrath of God} gets points for being a mainstay of the white fleet since the beginning. But {damnation} gets points because it isn't white and every card out of that set is wonky awesome. Tough call, but I'd say damnation wins, cause a black deck would notice its absence more than a white deck would notice the absence of a WoG. (Due to DoJ, rout, planar cleansing, etc. etc.)
