Also it's foolish to think they will be the only friends you'll ever have.

It's best to stop this line of thinking, you may have to get out of your comfort zone, you may need to read a few books on dealing with people and people skills.
But now that your pushed into a corner you have to act! Most people never find out what they are made of, because they never have enough pressure put on them to thrive in. Go talk to one person you didn't know before once a day and up it each month. See how that works, I know because I've experienced it.
