Old legendary rule

Curiosity killed the cat... I started playing when the legendary rule was one on the field so if someone else played another copy the other would sac it. Now under the older rules it was the first to play it, the biggest culprit was  {Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero}. I'm thinking what would happen if if my opponent controls a Lin sivvi and I cast a  {Clone} Could it become a copy of Lin sivvi?

New rule:

704.5k: If a player controls two or more legendary permanents with the same name, that player chooses one of them, and the rest are put into their owners' graveyards. This is called the "legend rule."
