Is this a viable start to a decent deck? I'm not much of a brewer, but big butts, sweepers and whipping Attarka into play seems like it could work. I'd like to build/tune this to play at regionals August 1st.

Tbh I feel like the Sultai Whip decks that have a slight {R} splash for Atarka are better. Bc the {Sidisi Brood Tyrant} can just win games all by herself. Also SB counterspells are great :Pn

I also think that you need {Den Protector} and maybe {Deathmist Raptor}

This ^

First week DTK came out, I played against a deck very similar to what Mattao has suggested. I had no way of controlling the board once they countered my Crux and once they had countered my {Utter End} on his Death most. They flooded the board with {Sidisi Brrod Tyrant} and then whipped out {Dragonlord Atarka}...it was brutal lol

Ya the deck can be a beating

I would definitely put counter magic in (I'm a blue player :p )... I would throw some {Clash of Wills} in. I suspect that it would come in handy if someone uses {Infinite Obliteration}... You could also throw that in against mirror matches and control matches?

LinkCelestrial

Honestly {Clash of Wills} sucks. There are so many better {x} cost counters in the game and /way/ better semi-conditional and hard counters in standard.

IMO a good whip deck is five color for Atarak and {Ashen Rider}. Once you get the right engine you can run whatever you want.

I agree that Clash of Wills isn't the best you probably just wanna run {Disdainful Stroke}

But don't run Ashen Rider it's not worth the splash at all

LinkCelestrial

With the right engine it hits your GY then you whip it for ultimate value. {Sultai Charm} and other discard outlets go a long way.

I feel like this will be fine against aggro, and midrange but esper Dragons or a traditional u/w control deck could be an issue. I put 2  {Dragonlord Kolaghan} In the side, but need a few other options to go with.

Raiderrob

 {Erebos's Titan} Seems like a good sideboard card against control, but I'm not sure it's viable out of a 3 color manabase.
